Kaitou Kid~

ickaimpI'm sure the non-anime people on my list are tired of me talking about Magic Kaitou, but you'll have to deal a little longer. Usually don't get to squee about the series more than once a year.
So! Big news first! I have a friend who is currently visiting Japan and got to see the 'Lost Ship in the Sky' this weekend! She sent me a lovely lovely summary, that I'm trying to talk her into letting me put up on the Kid Reference Page.
Her opening line was that movie 8, Magician of the Silver Sky, had always been her favourite (mine too!). And this topped it.
... I think it might top it too...

detective_conan, you know the basic scenario and outline. So, the good stuff!!!
Heiji and Kazuha, Heiji and phone calls withhis boyfriend Kudo, Heiji getting questions about boys liking boys, Kid groping Ran, Conan feeling Kid up, Conan discovering Kid is ticklish, and a Goat deciding Kid is edible.
... A GOAT!!!
And everyone thinking that Shin'ichi is really the Kaitou Kid. ^__^
Also premièring on Friday was Magic Kaito TV Special. Which I'm wondering if this wasn't a test to see if they could pull off a full series.
While watching the raw was debating doing a summary of it, but it's primarily the first manga chapter, updated. There are now laptops, mobile phones, and video messages.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

Important bits:
Kaito's Mom now has a name in canon, Chikage (1,000 Shadows), which is making me wonder if she really isn't 'Phantom Lady' in the current manga chapter. She is voiced by Sailor Mars. Seriously.
She also now has red hair and a sharper haircut.
The door to the Lair (we really need to name that) is on a timer, Kaito just happens to be pushing on it when it turns over to '8 years'. Which makes me wonder if Toichi didn't know that something was going to happen, since he had this set up for Kaito, once he got older. And it appears that the main entrance is indeed from Kaito's bedroom.
Kaito has a new trick - SUMMON OCTOPUS!!!. It has to be seen to be believed, and I'm not gong to be the first to make tentacle jokes. ;P
Locations and language on the advance notices changed.

"At 11:54 tonight, at the Ono Bank I will steal the 'Eye of the Moon'. -Kaitou Kid"

"11:54 tonight, at the Tokyo City Museum I will steal the 'Eye of the Moon'. -Kaitou Kid."
... I am not doing more heist notices for the original MK until I get a program that can write kana and kanji again. It takes hours to look up and then copy/past each character. ~_~
Going back and forth on the art style, think they got a little too far away from Gosho's style and turned them more 'generic' than anything else. And early scenes ofJii Kid make him look like he's got wide child-birthing hips. Not just bearing. Birthing.
Not so hot on Aoko with Ran-length long hair either, always liked that she had shorter, but that's just personal preference. ^^;;
The music I both adore and dislike in turns. Sometimes is very Film Noir sounding, other times Spaghetti Western, it couldn't seem to make up its mind and be cohesive. Still, a very fun, lively soundtrack.
Anyway! So, The Kaitou Kid Reference Page has been updated. New heist notes, characters for the 14th movie (including the goat), VAs on the main cast page, and bits for the current manga arc, which I'm still waiting more news on.
Still in progress: new cast profile art and holding off on a new section for the Magic Kaito anime until we find out if it's a series or not. ^^;;

I agree on the style... some was great... some made me go O.o but then... it was still okay and made me happy and squirm inside (I felt like they were trying to hard to make Kaito less Shinichi ish in the face... although OMG HAIR!!! )

Date: 2010-04-22 04:33 am (UTC)Knew that attack clock + picture was a timer. The leaning against the picture was NOT a sudden move, it's something Kaito had to have done before, thus, the picture had to have been locked before that moment.

...way off on Kuroba-san's name though.
Now I can't wait to see either Movie 14 or the TV special... *sigh*

Date: 2010-04-26 06:50 am (UTC)BTW, dunno if you noticed, but the monicle is tinted blue (and no, it's not just a night reflection, you see 'out' of it through two different angles and the glass is actually blue), and obviously larger then the manga...could be a BIG reason why there's a mess up in facial re-construction (blue tings on things not only change colour, but can change perception of shape...or else I just can't draw when using a blue screen layer).
Also, my theory on the clock is that Kuroba-san (whom I swear will stop wanting to refer to as Mika and use her proper name) actually set it the night Toichi died, hoping that Kaito either never found it, it wouldn't be needed...or that Kaitou Kid could live again as a 'fun' theif, not someone who was hunted by murders.

Date: 2010-05-09 01:22 pm (UTC)Also, I know you got the movie summary on your 1412 page from someone else, but the summary mentions not knowing what "shamu" means. Based on a similar usage in my J->E dictionary, I'd have to say it means "Siamese". Which kinda makes sense in the context in which it's used.
Just thought you might like to know (or note).
