Voices were batting around an idea *and here's the pitch!* *crack!* *ball goes sailing* ::CRASH!:: "dude, you're not SUPPOSED ta hit the scoreboard..." *points* "they did it" "cha. right." about the Conan Dub by Funi.

What if they gave Heiji a Spanish Accent? o_O

And would someone PLEASE tell the Plunnies that we are not going to write a FAKE drabble? Nah-uh, no way, nope.

*sighs* FAKE so addicting. S'not fair. ¬_¬

Spanish..... No, sorry; my brain will not accept that bit of input and is going ABORT/RETRY/IGNORE? at it right now. Nuh uh. I live too near Mexico for that, and the very thought of Heiji sounding like the Taco Bell Chihuahua is much, much too disturbing to consider.

However, what it DOES keep throwing at me is Heiji speaking in a voice straight out of the Bronx. It could happen, you know... it really could. Or he could speak Southern, which makes me simultaneously cringe and squeal, which is more difficult than it sounds. Can't you just HEAR him going "Now see, y'all, whatcha gotta do here is look at the clues and quit with yer gripin'....."

However, I suspect that if Dee spotted the Kaitou Kid hang-gliding overhead, his first response would be to pull out some huge gun and shoot him *right* out of the sky.

Um... considering that Kansai-ben is often compared to a southern drawl? I wouldn't be the least surprised if that's what happens. (echos of Tasuki from the Fushigi Yuugi "Mysterious Play" dub)

Hmmm... some dark lightweight loose weave material, some different gloves... up. Instant Ringwraith.

Currently working on Larva's head & shoulders too, to get rid of that 'short neck' syndrome that he has. Be a good costume, period. Espeically since Larva went wandering around last year at Halloween, want a different costume this year.

Between my stuff and your stuff, could dress you up as a Hobbit, easy. ~_^

The idea came from the Shaman King dub, where they renamed 'Ryuu' as 'Rio' and turned him into a flaming latin lover.

Darkish skin, black hair, hello Heiji. >_<

Brooklyn accent might be a bit more acceptable, IMHO. Goes with the baseball cap for some reason.
Deep south? *cringes*
But I'm really really hoping they don't pull what they did with Watari and go for an English Accent.

Yes, Dubs are scary.
Course, I'm still holding on to hope that they make Conan -sound- like a little kid.

Well, Paul Stepehn, regarded as the first person to translate DC into English, did made Heiji say Southern.

The following is a quote of his translation in Vol.10 File 2, his first appearence:

Heiji: Kudou's gotta cold...? Why'dya know Kudou's gotta cold, but not where he is?

Ran: The phone! I heard Shinichi's stuffed up nose over the phone...

Heiji: Kudou called here...?

Ran: Yes! Even after leaving somewhere, Shinichi still calls every once in a while! Any problems with that?

Heiji: Hmmmmm...

Heiji: So the rumors that sed you was Kudou's woman was true...

Ran: W-WOMAN?! Who said that?

Heiji: Your friend Suzuki! Said he wasn't comin' to school, that you was hidin' him somewheres!!

In Taiwan the voice of Shinichi is made by two people-- when he's thinking, it's dubbed by the voice actor of Shinichi, when he spoke, the "normal" voice actor for Conan is used...

Don't really know if it's a good idea; Conan and Shinichi are not identical people...

If, just for the sake of sounding "foreign," Heiji starts randomly inserting Spanish words while speaking English with people who don't know any Spanish, I'm going to have to kill the dubbers. This is a pet peeve of mine that I see on tv/movies . . .
