"Step right up!" The games vendor shouted as they wandered around the festival. "200 yen can win you 10,000 yen!"
It was a rope ladder, attached by a single rope to a large board at the top. Several fake yen were attached to the board. The object of the game was to climb the ladder and grab a fake note - without falling off the ladder or causing it to flip upside down.
"Yeah, right." Hattori smirked. "Everyone knows those games are rigged."
"Not necessarily." Hakuba said blandly, causing Hattori to bristle in annoyance. "It's more a game of skill than luck. As long as one shifts their weight at the appropriate time, it should be possible."
"Lift left hand, shift weight to left foot." Kuroba agreed with the blond. "Lift right foot, shift weight to right hand."
"Fine." Hattori growled, tossing the vendor two 100 yen coins. "Prove it."
Hakuba raised an eyebrow of his own, then gave the vendor an additional 200 yen. "Very well. If you attempt it as well."
"Fine." Hattori agreed with a sharp jerk of his head. "You joining, Kudo?"
"Might as well." Kudo sighed, adding his own 200 yen.
"Me too!" Kuroba cheered.
Hakuba glared. "No."
"But-"
"Three attempts for 500 yen." The vendor offered.
"Pass." Hakuba waved him off, placing his foot in the middle of the bottom rung, leaning over as he put his hands on two rungs in the middle. "Right, here we go..."
He wobbled as he lifted his foot onto the first rung, then stabilised. He lifted his right hand to get to the next rung and-
Hakuba let out a highly undignified yelp as the ladder abruptly flipped over, depositing him on the mattress on the ground below. "Your turn." He said dryly, waving a hand at Hattori from his sprawled position.
"Ha." Hattori growled, placing his hands and feet on the ladder. He made it a rung farther than Hakuba had before the ladder flipped as well, depositing him on top of the blond. Both of them yowled at each other, hands swatting each other as they rolled to opposite sides of the stall. Kuroba snickered at them.
"My turn." Kudo sighed. He tilted his head to the side for a moment, took a few steps back and launched himself at the ladder, attempting to run up it.
-and promptly found himself lying on his back on the mattresses, staring up at the ladder. "Was worth a shot." He muttered as he sat up.
"Seriously, guys." Kuroba commented as he handed the vendor his own yen. He put his hands in his pockets and calmly -walked- up the ladder which wobbled and swayed under his feet, but not enough to tip him off. He stopped at the top rung, debated for a moment, then reached up and plucked the top most fake 10,000 yen note. He waved it cheerfully at the boys below him. "I don't see what the problem is."
Three evil glares were thrown his direction. "I suppose... dinner is on me?" Kuroba offered nervously.
Three sets of hands tilted the ladder for him and Kuroba joined them on the ground.

Re: conan OVA #6
Date: 2006-07-23 10:55 pm (UTC)-a quick google search will show you where to find their sites and bittorrent pages.
As far as manga, there are quite a few places. ScytheGP has just released a cleaned up version of the first volume of Magic Kaito. Current English scans are being translated on the DC Proboards (http://edogawa.proboards48.com/), and a better listing of people who host the manga are farther down on the poll entry of my LJ.
Hope that helps.
