Last night Doc and I joined some KAOS members on a moonlight walk from the 'Sign of the Takahe' to the 'Sign of the Kiwi'.
-when we first got the invite, I thought that the 'Signs' would be carvings, or statues or monuments. Turns out that they're kinda monuments.
They're historic pubs. *snickers*
But the sun didn't finish setting until after 10:30, which feels kind of weird, really. So we set out on our intrepid journey, going through the forest with only minimal use of flashlight and some drunkeness. (lovely scene where one guy had a camelpack on and was trying to get a lady to drink from it. "That's not water in there!")
We get up to the sign of the Kiwi and hang out in the parking lot, in this middle of a pass, watching the city lights below. Someone had brought a double boiler with hot gooey chocolate in it, penquin shaped marshmallows, fudge, cake and gingerbread people that we all dipped in the fondue while mulled wine was passed around.
Can we say awesome? Yeah.
Cloudbank started to roll in so we headed back, but this time no one wanted to use flashlights. It was kinda neat, it was like everything started to glow in a way. Didn't need the flashlights, cause you could still see. Although my depth perseption was crap-all.
So on the way back, I have the song 'Paint it black' ("No colors anymore I want them to turn black") as the cloud bank is sweeping in and covering up all the lights of the city. Brrrr.
Got back to the cars about 1:30 in the morning.
Awesome trip to take.

Yay, so you enjoyed it? ^__^

See you tonight ^.~

(Btw, go to the main KAOS page and then the mailing lists page and look at the partylist archives, and look for info on tonight and stuff pre-organised for the next weeks/months)

Oh, that's right. It's summer down there! I completely forgot. It is weird having the sun set so late. I'm from North Dakota originally and the sun wouldn't be completely set until after 10 in the summers (makes me wonder how I got to sleep as a little kid with the sun up like that).

Yeah, my body's just now stopping the 'must prepare for winter' thing, now that we've been here 6 weeks. >_<

Think it's odd to me cause I'm used to living in the lower States, closer to the equator.
Little kids sleep odd, that's all there is to it. ^__^

I've heard that it takes the body 21 days to aclimatize to an area. Maybe it was a mental thing in your case too? (I've lived in Texas 12 + yrs and still am not used to the heat and humidity. Definitly mental in my case. ^_^ )

Figured it takes me 2 weeks for my mind to completely aclimatize and forget we've been anywhere else (except for the the wanting to 'turn to talk to friends only they're on the other side of the WORLD' thing), 1 week to function without going OMG!SHINY! every other hour.

But yeah... prolly about 3 weeks was about when either summer finally hit here or I stopped noticing it so much. I'm back in tanktops today... ^__^

Although I still miss my friends. It's weird not going to tea to talk with Gail and the ladies or snark with MOrgan or talk DC with Ysabet, cause suddenly they're far away. ;_;

::hugs:: [remembers moving to Texas all too well and the homesickness and loneliness that followed]

Never actually ~felt~ homesick, at least not as it's been explained to me.
But the lack of close and good friends locally does knaw sometimes. But that's what the Internet is for! *pats laptop*

Pain it Black reminds me of Utada Hikaru's "Amai Wana ~Paint it Black"

I see a red door and I wanna paint it black~

Prolly similiar lyrics.
Damn catchy song. Secretly think of it as the Haibara/B.Ops song.

I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
