Well, Monday was my birthday (Thanks to everyone who wished us a happy one!!) and after some debate, we made a decision.

Watching many Shonen Jump series, most characters have something in common. They have a clear, decisive goal that they want to reach, such as Luffy wants to be the King of Pirates and Naruto wants to be the Hokage. That sort of goal is something that I'm kinda envious of. ...Even if we are kinda wondering about what happens after they make their goal. But anyway, we've come up with our own goal to strive for.

We want to be an interesting person. That's our big goal for our life. If that means traveling, cool. If that means odd unusual jobs and skills, all the better. But we just don't want to end up be a boring person.

Speaking of odd jobs and birthdays, new job started on our birthday as well.
-If I make it through the holydaze sane, it'll be a blasted miracle.

Anyway, lotta stuff going on offline, doing some ficcage, but mainly working on updating Ysabet's site. Ferget NaNoWriMo, think we've deleted over 50,000 words of unnessacary coding out of the various pages. @_@;; Some writing. -Po'e, you have a birthday fic on the way, but it'll prolly be about a week before we get a break to put it up. Sorry. 'Neechan's also in town and limping along.

Odd thing of the day was checking out the latest hitstats for Mischif.net (we did get a -slight- update done last weekend, Ang3lbrt: Shades of Grey has been re-updated and everything's in order again) and found someone had linked to us, with the comment that some of the short fics had shonen-ai content in it. With a happy face.
... we had been avoiding for quite some time putting shonen-ai content into our stories, because for a very long time, our reading of the DC/MK fandom was that it wasn't slash friendly. Then we just kinda gave up, and now it seems like there are lots of yaoi and slashy fans in the DC fandom. *scratches head* Kinda makes my head spin. Has the influx of new fans changed the fandom that much? (wow, approching 3 years now that we've been active in the fandom)
Voices are also in debate about de-friending SoG once we finish the next three chapters that are in progress, which'll push the time line to over a year since the story began and about 40 chapters, which'll prolly happen around Christmas. Yeah, it's not -that- slashy, but we don't wanna offend anyone either. On the other hand, that is what the back button's for.
-anyway, just something we've been wondering about for a while. Thoughtful feedback welcome.

So, Happy Turkey Day to those celebrating it and we'll talk to ya in a bit, hopefully bearing our usual amount of ficcage and other creative offerings. In the meantime, we're gonna go eat. Whee. ^___^ <3

Happy belated Birthday, and good luck on the goal!

And I personally think that since Gundam Wing (and it's fandom) hit the states, people have become aware that yaoi exists (if not always enthusiastic about it). They know what it is, they are not terribly surprised by it, and they know if they should be hitting the back button to avoid being grossed out or if they're really into it. This sort of spreads into all fandoms. At least, that's my take on it.

I think you're right.

Personally, I got into reading the yaoi and the slash several years ago because it used to be that the slashy fics tended to be the better quality ones, written by the more mature authours. The pairings really didn't matter to me.
-this is no longer the case, because there was suddenly this odd influction of yaoi pairings thru GundamWing and Yu*Yu*Hakusho.
Although the pairings still don't matter to me. Don't really care if it's het, yaoi or yuri, just as long as it's well written.

Note to self: Do not type while tipsy. Our spelling suckth greatly.

That's exactly how I got into yaoi, despite my heavily Christian upbringing. Arbitrary morals just aren't as important as good writing. Pairings do matter to me, but only because some just don't seem realistic to me, not because they're yaoi or whatever.

And it's perfectly all right to be tipsy on Thanksgiving. Being perfectly coherent is almost a bigger sin. *grins*

Happy belated birthday! *hugs* Haven't talked to you in a long time, but glad to hear you've gotten a job again.

As for slash well, I'm iffy about it. I like your slash though.

Truely hope you enjoyed your B-day! I keep thinking it's the day right before Thanksgiving... *blush*

And don't worry dearest you are definitely already an interesting person... believe me, feeling the lack out here... tired, dreary, boring... who knew LA could pull it off!
The place seems to have lost some of it's sparkle with the Imp moved away... I expected some of the shine to go but not this much...
I'm certain you are stunning people left and right and able to liven up any event.
It's a unique talent you've had for years... it started out with you making your own spider rings in community college and designing your own tattoo's and blossomed into a Japanese obsession that brings new meaning to reincarnation & unexplainable spiritual connections. the 'we' thing in California is simply an eccentricity but, does encourage paying attention long enough to get the fuller picture. You've said you were a newer soul but perhaps it's just that you've lived in a way that gives you more than the usual ability to look at things with an unjaded eye and new perspective. And able to let the rest of us earth-locked folk get a good peak in regularly.
sometimes the view is spectacular & sometimes it's amazing but always it is something that bring back a little of the feel of first-times and never-knew-that-before's. Perhaps it's your own special brand of imp-dust or an impling touch but always a glimmer of joy involved...
I hope I've properly embarrassed you since I wasn't there to do so for your b-day... may you always have another year to look forwards too dear imp...
Hugs, roses, sugar & cake and good internet connections to you Impling!

& better luck finding your new challenge Icka, lol!

Happy six days afterwards birthday!
May you have a great wonderful year and life and I hope you succeed in everything you do.

And don't worry about being boring, that's the least likely thing you'll ever be.

^_^ Enjoy Turkey day! (Not so sure when thanksgiving is, so this may be a belated wish)

Happy belated birthday, Icka-sama!

Madam, you could never be a boring person. Of that, rest assured.

That's a good question: if they do acheive their goal before dying an untimely death, what's next? That question has plagued angsty-fic authors for, oh, 9 years now, ever since the internet was founded and fic was availiable. (Don't believe me? Check out Gossamer.org, the oldest X-Files fic archive out there, with stories from the day the Internet went public. The older angsty stuff? All of them ask and address that very question.)

Well...to be quite honest, though I'm OK with homosexuality in general, I'm not a major yaoi fan. If, in the course of my reading a manga, I find it has yaoi, I won't just drop it; it's kept my attention and it (must) have a good plot. (Like, oh, Yami no Matsuei, or, if the fandom is to be believed, Furuba.) However, I won't knowing choose yaoi. I'm not a yaoi fangirl. So...if you put SoG on non-friend, I won't complain, but I won't read it, myself. Nothing personal, honest.

I agree though; from the few yaoi pieces I've read, they are of high literary quality. Or, at least, they were a while ago. Now, with HP and GW and YYH, the flux has tripled. It's crazy. However...I've found that, because I like my het so much, I just have to deal. Trial and error and whatnot. Despite the sheer amount of time it takes, there are a lot of "havens" for good fic. The SugarQuill is a haven for really good R/Hr fic from HP, for example.

Randomness: did you ever play the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time game for the N64?

Happy (belated) Turkey day! ^___^

Hmph. Same sex content shouldn't offend people. It's not your problem if they're living in the dark ages and can't hit the back button.

As everyone else has metnioned Happy Belated Birthday or is the proper usage belatedly Happy birthday. Grammar was not my cup of tea, strong suit or any other cliche one can imagine. As evidenced by your twenty previous responses I think you may need to come up with a new goal - you already are an interesting person. I met you that one time and I could tell. But perhaps it is that striving to try all theknew things that makes you such. I understand though - isn't that what we all want. To find ourselves less than ordinary?

In any case your a highly interesting Birthday girl!
