[fic] [752] One Piece Fluff

Sheesh, writing a lot of One Piece lately.
Anyway, just a fluffy scene that was bouncing around. And for once, not a drabble.
And the band played songs we'd never heard
But we danced anyway
We never understood the words
We just sang oh la la la la la la la oh
And we danced anyway
"We Danced Anyway --- Deana Carter."
It was one of those peaceful starry nights that just made you want to stretch out and enjoy the tranquillity. The sky was clear, the lights of a thousand thousand stars sparkling like diamond dust on black velvet. The ship rocked gently in the water, the motion soothing to those who had chosen to live their life on the shifting water. Strains of music from Nami's radio filled the balmy air as the crew lounged around on the deck and watched the stars.
In other words, it was a quiet night on the Going Merry, and the crew was taking full advantage of the fact.
The music changed to some thing a little bit more upbeat, and Sanji rose, disposing of the cigarette he had just finished along the way. He approached Nami with something like a small cautious smile on his face, and held a hand out to her. "Nami-swan," He said genteelly. "Would you care to dance?"
She paused a moment, then reached up and hesitantly rested the tips of her fingers on the palm of her hand. When he casually waited, not hearting, wiggling or screaming with joy, she smiled radiantly at him, clasping his hand with hers. "I'd love to."
He smiled, gracefully pulling her to her feet and with one hand resting on her waist, pulled her into an easy waltz. They fumbled a little bit, blushing slightly and laughing nervously before getting used to the rhythm and each other, then began to dance smoothly.
"Don't worry." Zoro commented dryly from where he appeared to be asleep against the railing. "I'm sure he'll be crying for joy later."
Sanji shot the swordsman a glare that quite clearly stated that if his arms weren't currently full of his favourite lady, he'd be kicking Zoro's ass.
Luffy bounced to his feet, his arms out stretched in a cheer. "I wanna dance too!" He proclaimed loudly.
Zoro snickered at the outburst until he was abruptly hauled to his feet by his captain. "Zoro!" Luffy grinned. "Dance with me!"
"Ehh?! Oi! OI! Luffy!" The taller green haired man protested as he was tossed around the deck in a much more slapdash fashion than Nami and Sanji. "Lemme go! LUFFY!"
Not that Luffy paid any attention. He was having too much fun bouncing around the deck, hauling his first mate around with him and singing along to the music. Only he didn't quite know the words, so it was more of a joyous 'La-la-la-la-la!" amidst his laughs to the music than anything else.
The swordsman gave up after the second lap around the grinning Sanji and Nami and began hauling Luffy around as well, resulting in a crazed laughing madcap twirl around the deck as they attempted to keep each other from crashing into objects and other people.
Or at least Zoro attempted to keep them from crashing into everything.
Usopp, Chopper, Vivi and Karaku watched and laughed, feet tapping at the beat. Usopp got a wicked gleam in his eye as he climbed to his feet and brushed off his pants. Then with a bow more elegant that one would expect from the usually gangly Jack-of-all-trades, he smiled at Princess Vivi.
Causing her to break out in fresh peals of laughter as he then took Chopper's hands and pulled the giggling reindeer into what appeared to be a sailor's reel. It was rather hard to tell with the tall skinny human bent nearly in half as Choppers hooves moving double time in a staccato beat that had nothing to do with the music playing.
Peals of laughter burst out from the whirling Captain and First Mate as they noticed Usopp and Chopper's dancing, turning into another chorus of 'La-la-la!" from Luffy as Zoro spun him madly around. Nami giggled as well, hiding it against Sanji who's visible eye hearted, but he didn't relinquish his grip on the vivacious Nami.
Vivi glanced over at Karoo, who was looking at the strange humans in befuddlement. "Let's go, Karoo!" She cheered as well, grabbing the fleet-footed spot-billed duck and dragging him into the dancing fray. The duck shrugged philosophically, then joined in with the dancing with much wing-and foot waving.
And amidst the laughter and the music, the friends danced together under the stars.
