[fic] Mixed with Black: Black
Jul. 21st, 2003 12:36 pmThis is a very rough of this story, left all my notes at home, but this wanted to get out while we were thinking about it.
The rules of a Kaitou are simple, and few. But they're really all that separate us from the common petty thieves. For while we may be thieves, we are anything but common or petty.
First off, a Kaitou never steals without a reason.
This is the main thing that separates us from the common thieves. Usually the reason we steal is because it's for other people. Kaitou rarely keep what we steal, so it's either returned or given to someone else.
After all, we're not in this for the money.
Heh.
A Kaitou is always polite.
After all, it takes so little to be polite, and the curses you get in return is well worth the tiny effort to greet your victims, er, the police officers at the door. Or thank them for showing up.
I suppose sending a Warning Notice before the heist is a part of that. After all, it doesn't hurt to give them a little heads up that someone is coming to take their valuables.
Is not like they've ever come close to catching me either.
Okay, so maybe once or twice, but we don't talk about it. There is a reputation to maintain after all.
Nobody gets hurt.
Ideally, the Kaitou's job is to sneak in, get the object of the heist and sneak out without anyone knowing the wiser, never mind the fact that we have sent a warning notice a head of time to let them know exactly when and what we're going to take. Or maybe trade a few barbs with the police officers for fun. Which it is, despite their grumbling.
A Kaitou's job is not to hurt, maim, kill or otherwise injure someone. As crazy as it sounds, a Kaitou's role is to protect. Jii waxes nostalgic about it sometimes, but he's an old fart who's forgotten more than I've learned yet so he's allowed to. Kaitou protect the history and integrity of the jewels we steal. Really, is anyone going to take a part a bracelet or a necklace or a clock tower once a Kaitou has stolen and returned it? I think not. It adds polish and shine to the reputation.
Besides, as a general rule, we do not deal with animate objects. Jewels, paintings, statues, things like that. You want someone hurt or killed? Go find yourself an assassin or a thug. That's not our job.
A Kaitou is always dramatic.
Come on, if you're going to steal, you know you're going to steal, the police know you're going to steal, heck, the whole WORLD knows you're going to steal, why not have some fun with it?
So always take the time to pose dramatically. The Moon and the Stars make wonderful backdrops. Spotlights can sometimes, other times they're just a pain.
And the role of Kaitou is a hazardous one. If you're going down, you might as well look good at it.
Besides, it looks really cool.
-fin-
And what has to be the weirdest opening line for any of our fics, for the 'Belling the Kaito' story:
"For the briefest of inane moments, Kaito wondered why the panties had betrayed him."

Date: 2003-07-22 01:33 pm (UTC)*waves an incoherant finger towards Jii's fic* THAT is much better!
I don't think many people have caught on to the Hakuba/handcuffs thing, so he's safe in that aspect, but still have to wonder about the White Tux. *nods* That was some damn fyne crack.

Re: "Hack Fanfic Writer Dead From Envy-- 'No Big Loss', Say Critics"
Date: 2003-07-22 03:26 pm (UTC)As for the writing; pfehh. NOT better than the Jii thingie, which I need to get going again. And now Hauntress is pissed at me 'cause I won't show her a teeny bit I wrote that'll be in the next chapter because I dunno if I want to heat it up that much. Romance, yeah, but... hmm. Why do I get the feeling that the plaguey wish to write lemonish scenes is due to reading Meg's stuff? Read her newest version of 'My December' last night, which did NOT help (other than possibly giving me the one entertaining dream of the evening-- had horrific nightmares the rest of the night, don't know why. But DID dream stuff about Daisuke and Dark having a snowball fight; was throwing virtual snowballs in chat-window earlier at Ed and Hauntress, so I guess that's where THAT came from as well); damn, she can write-- I almost died laughing when I hit Kosuke's "going to hell" monologue.
Can't wait to see the finished version of Black:Black; by the way, did you know there's an Asian brand of chewing-gum called BlackBlack? I don't like gum myself, but I've run across this before-- got enough mint oil in it to spontaneously combust.

Date: 2003-07-22 04:28 pm (UTC)The Blueberry gum is better, IMHO. And the gum with the pengi or the dolphins is my absolute favourite. Can chew on one stick for an entire day and it won't get hard after a few hours like most brands.
Voices are on a campain to get SOMEONE into Leather Pants. Either Heiji (who can pull the whole punk/rock star thing), Kaito, Hakuba or Okita. Heck, mebbe one of the girls, can you imagine the guy's reaction!?!
Put the Kid in Dark's clothing. *nods*
On the manga covers, the Kid's wearing a white suit, pink tie and pale blue shirt. In the anime, the tie is now red and the shirt's a bit darker, so he's staying current.
After all, think it says something when GTO steals his clothing. ^^;; (see first anime episode!)
He always reminded me more of 'art deco' than '80s fashion victim'. Think it's because he's got the elegance to pull it off.
Sorry for not being on last night, was in the mood to sew, so sat down to watch some One Piece and sew maple leaves on a jacket and the next thing I know it's around 10. ^^;; (and we're zoned out today, which is fine, everyone else is too)
Yesh, Meg-chan is an awesome writer. Speaking of fics, have you read the latest part of Ann's Gingerbread Man?! *sparkles* Sooo good.
Oh! Need to send you part of the Handcuff fic. hee.
I have photos from Japan to scan in! Horror of horrors, you might actually see what I really look like! @_@
*laughs* The fun part about authours, different types of writing I guess. ^^;;
