Current housesitting job is in Vail, 26 miles away one way, so I'm borrowing a 1990 Ram Charger to get back and forth.

Saterday, I did a k-turn, the engine when thunk, the gas pedal went soft and the gear indicator went missing. Over 50 is now questionable, the engine attempts to stall.

I worry, pull over and call Johannes, who hands me to his wife lil_1337, who has me check the oil. Oil low. Engine hot. Okay, we can solve this. Quik Mart nearby. A case of 'damsal in distress' later, we're on the road. As stated, over 50 is questionable and there's at least 6 miles of highway I have to go on. Getting there? Fun. In a nervewracking sort of way.

There is a car here that I have the keys for, 'in case of emergency', but I get home too late to call them on the other coast to inquire about borrowing. So I call work to warn I may not be able to come in, they say that's fine, don't worry about it, we'll just give your hours to someone else.

... 5 hours of pay, gone bye bye. ~_~ On top of the $60 thus far for gas. This job has officially cost me over half of what was given for it. At least the horses are easier to care for than anticpated, they're basically giant herbavore cats, demanding gooshy food alphafa.

In the meantime, I'm low on food, since I panicked over car instead of remembering to get groceries.

Neighbour on the lot next is moving, came over and asked if I wanted any of the perishables, including the makings of chocolate chip cookies, minus the eggs.

Yes. Totally yes.

Found two recipies for eggless chocolate chip cookies.

The first one makes extremely small batches and is essentially butter, flour, sugar and a bit of vanilla. They taste like flour and sugar combined, around chocolate. Don't really recommend this one.

The second one uses condensed milk, which made for a better, if interesting, taste. The cookies are drier than I prefer, not really crispy or chewy, but passable. They don't really ooze when cooking, so they maintained their original spooned shape, which is kinda weird. But if you're doing eggless, I'd recommend this one over the other.

So tomorrow, I nurse the car home, have a hamburger since there's no protein in the house unless I eat one of the many cats, and either go to the demo or get drunk with police officers. I haven't decided yet.
