Being a Good Hindu Girl that grew up in Texas with a vegetarian mom, I was told more than once, "What? You can't eat beef? But what about steak?" Or some variation therein. Most people seemed to express shock, followed by pity that I would never be able to have steak.
Which is utterly ridiculous. I've eaten beef once or twice in the past - usually by accident, and I can tell because beef has a taste to it - and have pretty much never liked the taste. I'm a poultry-only meat-eater, though I do like crab and tuna. But that's likely more the alfredo sauce / mayo than the seafood itself. Being in an Asian market actually makes me want to throw up, it smells so much like fish. Honestly, I went vegetarian for a month last fall and the hardest part was making sure I got my protein and trying not to get bored by my limited options. Otherwise, I was perfectly content.
Uhhh. Long rant is long. tl;dr version: I feel you so hard on that.
