I feel like one of those clichés at the moment.
Bad News: Grabbed the wrong set of keys before leaving the house and have locked myself out.
Good News: Found the push mower, to take out the sudden random over-abundance of grass we currently have.
Bad News: Said growth is knee-high, which the mower is useless at. Need weed-whacker.
Good News: Still have iPhone on me, plus Internet access. *waves* Have a nice spot of shade, can read fic while waiting for people to get home.
Annoying News: The cats are mocking me.
There's new Magic Kaito fic up on the ficblog in the meantime. Enjoy!
... And since I'm thinking about it, does anyone have a favourite cinnamon roll recipe?
Edit: Minutes after I hit 'post', Sean comes home! Perfect timing!!! \o/

Date: 2010-04-03 11:35 pm (UTC)I love older recipes. They tend not to have as many strange, complex ingredients. ^___________^

Date: 2010-04-04 02:57 am (UTC)Dough:
4 c. bread flour
2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp nonfat dry milk
2 Tbsp Crisco
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 c raisins
1 1/3 c water
2 tsp yeast
Mix the dough ingredients and let dough rise for approximately 2-3 hours (about double in size.) My grandmother has also used a bread machine for this part if you have one and like to use it.
Stretch and roll risen dough into a 1/4 in. thick rectangle.
Filling:
3 Tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Brush the melted butter on top of the prepared dough. Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmag and spread the mixture evenly on top of the buttered dough. Roll lenthwise like jelly roll. Slice roll into 1 inch slices. Place in 8x12 inch sprayed or buttered pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
Icing:
3 Tbsp soft butter
2 tsp flour
3 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Mix everything together. Spread icing onto of rolls after baking. This makes about 1 dozen rolls.
Feel free to play with it! I like using a teaspoons or two of pumpkin pie spice or a sprinkle of allspice in the dough and filling or using brown sugar instead of plain sugar in the dough, but hey - to each their own :) If you're a nut fan, you can sprinkle a bit of chopped nuts on top the dough after you put on the filling. They keep fairly well for a few days in a ziplock bag. Just microwave them for about 30-45 seconds to soften them back up. Hope you enjoy it.
