Okay, so following up on the Poll for 712, which is now closed.

Couple of main things stick out for me at the conclusion of this case.

Kid did Taser Conan. WTF?! -Which means we now have an escalation of violence between the two of them. Grr.

Nakamori never occurred to me as someone for the Kid to disguise himself as except as a 'naaaaaaah, too obvious' sort of thing.
However, that trick can only really work once, so we don't have to worry about him being Nakamori next time around.

Nakamori running around stamping people's faces with his name is marvellously hysterical, BTW. I do so love Nakamori-keibu.

Kid disguising himself as Genta is amusing. He just has to show off.

What is it with Ai's reactions to Kid? 'Moonlight Magician' here and that 'What a Loving Kaitou we have' back at the Eccentric Mansion case. Is there something going on here that I'm missing? Did she know him as Sherry or does she just like pulling his leg?

Kid drawing Nakamori's stamp has me in complete and utter AWE. To the point of disbelief, really.
1: He pulls out a brush dipped in ink from somewhere. No bottle of ink, no cap for the brush, no spilt ink, just a brush with the ink on it.
2: HE THEN DRAWS A PERFECT CIRCLE WITH IT.
Let me put this in context. There is a legend that when the Pope challenged Leonardo Da Vinci to prove his artistic ability, Leonardo took a pen, reached out and arm and drew a perfect circle freehand. And thereby won.
Try it. We're talking mythic proportions here.

... and doesn't have to re-fill the ink either. That's my major problem with drawing with brushes....

And Conan kicks him for knocking him out. Cute. Though I'm kinda confused about Kid's card for stealing the Kirin's horn stuck on Kid's back... Conan stick a tracer on the card at the same time? Or did Kid already have a tracer stuck to the note? (that makes no sense!) Or are the other officers just spotting the note in the dark?

When did Kid check the horn in the moonlight? Wasn't it pouring rain? Or did he do it beforehand already and set this whole thing up so he could 'play' with Conan?

*sighs*

... I really don't know what it is about this case, but bothers me and I haven't been able to get quite as into it as I have with previous Kid appearances.
Which is really weird.

Anyone else, or am I over-reacting to something? o_O

taser...

The part with the taser was disappointing. Isn't Kid breaking his dad's rules-NO one gets hurt? Because I seem to read somewhere that tasering kids can be dangerous...The part with the card confuses me. I have no idea how the officers were able to find Kid in the dark. I guess Conan got his revenge in the end...Either a tracking device or there's a glow in the dark paint on the calling card...Not sure about the horn thing-perhaps it was another of those Kid vs Conan things....

Tasering anyone can be dangerous, but Kid had always been just on the edge of "No one dies", not "No one gets hurt" considering what he used to do in MK.

I sincerly loved this chapter, it's back to the Kid we knew and loved in MK, the one who hit officers over the head with wrenches and stole statues (okay, tried).

Dressing up as Nakamori was pure genius, it's been too long since he's had a good disguise like that, and the Genta one..well, of course he had to do it eventually since they always discounted the kids since his first apperence in DC.

I thought he was holding eyeliner though, for the stamp. Looks more pencily then brush to me in the image.

As for the note, I guessed Conan got florecent paint on it before kicking it into Kaito's back and yelling.

No idea on the horn except maybe that its the wrong size/shape/timeline for it to be Pandora, especially since most of the DC gems aren't checked, especially those Uncle J aquires (which makes me wonder, does he sell all these gems later, or does he just have a huge display of gems Kid once went after as a reminder of his 'failure' to catch Kid?)

Personally, I think we need more of the MK!Kid, to get rid of the 'romantic thief' image built up. Kid does what he needs to sometimes to get the job done, even if that includes using a hairs breath of violence (he was after all, looking after Conan in his plans to make sure he was safe in the end).

Now I can't wait until next year's Kid case (though, wasn't there two this year? I should check the release dates, that's unusual)

Just my two cents, talking it out.

I think that may actually be the problem that I have right there.
Magic Kaito is a comedy. It's slapstick.
Detective Conan... isn't.

Knocking people over the head with a wrench or a plunger in Magic Kaito? That's funny. It's obviously the first thing he had at hand and you know they're gonna wake up confused and with a headache from the large round bump on the head.

In Detective Conan, if someone's hit over the head with a wrench, there's gonna be a blood puddle and the chance that they're never gonna wake up again.

And a stungun? He had to -get- it, then carry it with him. That's pre-meditated. That's not funny.
-I've never thought of stunguns as 'harmless' or 'painless'. More along the lines of not just 'ow', but 'motherf*cking ow'.

So while I agree that it's nice to see the prankster-ish Kid, it was too much DC and not enough MK for it to work IMHO.

True, true.

I wonder if this chapter is a bizzare plot where Gosho wanted to do MK, but couldn't because what he needed (the kids) were in DC.

Man, now I'm kind of torn, because of your points...

...can I be a little thrilled Kid got a bit of his own back at Conan who usually is the attacker? Or would that make me bad? *innocent look*

I still just say the only way Gosho could make me think Nakamori was hot was have KID disguised as him.

If I'm suddenly finding a character attractive that I never have before in a KID case... BAM I know who he disguised himself as (It worked for the Takagi case.. I knew it IMMEDIATELY because he looked more Kaitoish)

Honestly the case seemed more MKish to me and less Conan. It didn't bother me but with the Tasering Conan (cuz ya know... it's Conan) and the kids and Nakamori's magic skills etc It was almost like MK but from the detective's side yeah?

And I gotta say... I didn't even consider Ai's comments...

Ya know. Given her miracle drug!evil poison I bet she was part of the KID division in the org. ^_^ 'Cuz that's such an orgy (er.... org-y? okay not using THAT adverb again) thing to do. Call favvy thief by weird adoring pet names (that or little did we know theres a onesided Ai/KID ship..... ))

I think Kid/Sherry used to be a popular pairing in the japanese fandom (for all I know: it was mostly fanfic and google-translation didn't really cut it). Dunno if it still is or not. Could be a refernce to that?
Then again, it is most likely that Ai's just being sarcastic at him. ;)

On the taser issue I'm more worried at the idea that Kid may have used it on Genta. Didn't Heiji go blatantly furious at the guy who used one on Kazuha way back? Yet now Gosho is using it like it's chloroform. I don't get it.

Re: Kid acquiring one. Are officers in Japan even allowed to carry them?

Noted Ideas

Just a few things that came to my mind when I read over your post and then went to read the chapters.

1a - The perfect circle thing? 100% do-able. It takes either lots of practice or a trick that artists tend to keep to themselves.

1b - That thing he pulls out looks just like this old-timey pen my grandmother has. Ink settles at the end even when it's not in use. But I can't really tell, since his fingers are EXACTLY where the inscription would be.

1c - My whole "No freaking way!" moment for that is that Kid does a perfect circle and kanji w/o tilting his face! He's looking dead at himself, no tilt to his head or the mirror! Now THAT is impressive.

2 - If anyone ever says Kid can't do something, he's gonna prove them wrong. I remember watching the first episode where he appears, when Nakamori-keibu goes "Even he can't disguise himself as a child." and going "THAT, good sir, is a challenge!"

3 - I think it's a little of both when concerning Ai/Sherry and Kid. But then, it's only a hunch since we don't have much about her past.

4 - The re-appearance of the Magic Kaito version of Kid is a little disconcerning. It makes me wonder if there's going to be a long bit of angst/depression or bad luck with the BO coming up.

*fidgets* I hope this doesn't come off like I'm being a know-it-all. I'm just giving my own opinion.
