WE CAN HAS KID!!!
-I'm a little late on the squee and discussion there of the case. Got the text translation just before the scans came out.

So, Thoughts and schtuff on 712, mostly in prep for updating the Kid Ref Page

-The discussion by the Shonen Tantei about the Kirin at the front was amusing, as a 'catch the audience up if they don't know this stuff'.
-Mitsuhiko is the bearer of fore-shadowing. Suzaku and Byakko.
-Conan gets flashed! (sorry)
-The Shonen Tantei's jealousy is amusing, as is Haibara pulling up the hood to hide her face. It's convenient that she always has clothing to hide behind when she needs it. (hats, hoods, etc)
-The Postscript is rather disturbing. P.S. This time we're done with the child's play. We'll do battle as adults. First major proof in the manga that Kid knows that Conan = Kudo?
-Jiroki looks a little bugnuts about 'Kid weak vs Children'. "With his wings clipped, the Kid will be nothing more than a baby' is rubbing it in just a tad, y'think?
-The whole typhoon thing is rather opportune, isn't it?
-Love the Shonen Tantei wearing the matching 'DB' jackets. Although in the txt translation, it's 'Sweatshirts' and in the DCTP translation it's 'parkas'.
-And we have the Kaitou Kid Suspects! Who is he hiding has now?! Shinkai Juri (37) the Reporter, Masui Shougo (41) the cheerful Cameraman, or Hisumi Isao (38) the replacement Soundman
-Nakamori is love. I can understand Jiroki's 'Kids learn best through pain', but still...
-Pattern for the electrically charged pillars: Green, Red, White, Black
Seiyuu the Blue/Green Dragon of the East,
Suzaku the Red Bird of the South,
Byakko the White Tiger of the West,
Genbu the Black Tortoise of the North.
-The pillar in the centre with the Kirin statue in it is very cool. The amber is smaller than I thought though.
-Samizu Kichiemon strikes again! I'm gonna hafta start posting his appearances on the Kid page if he keeps showing up.
-Conan is so completely underwhelmed in the TV news Broadcast.
-The taser face = Surprise Buttsechs or Raep O'clock?

So, the major question is Was that the Kaitou Kid who Tasered Conan?.
It makes no sense for Kid to use a taser, which carries the chance of being lethal on a body so small, especially when he has sleeping gas. If it is Kid, he's escalating from his appearance in Purple Nails, where he had that conversation with Conan with the cardgun at his back. o_O

I second Ytak's reasoning. Basically, I don't think it's the Soundman because he's the one being held pu as most likely, being a replacement and all...

Yeah, the soundman seems the most likely because working as the replacement is what Kid did in the 4 Masterpieces case in vol 53, which screams 'It's a Trap!' to me. ^^;;

On the other hand, Kaito could have a part-time job with Nichiuri TV as a soundman, and once he discovered he was gonna be sent on the case, he left. the thought amuses me ~_^

Yup. I'm betting the tasering was Jirokichi and that Kid is prolly Masui Shougo, the Cameraman.

OF COURSE I COULD BE -TOTALLY- WRONG, but as of this moment, that's my bet. #^^#

I think this means that he didn't want Conan there for some reason. perhaps he's expecting the Black Org?

sweatshirts vs. parkas
I'd go with the 'parka' translation, as these have hoods (as shown by Haibara), and sweatshirts tend to not have those.

Who is he hiding as now?!
I say he scoped out the place as the original soundguy. maybe he backed out to disguise as someone else (hence, throwing suspicion on the new, unknown person?) I don't know if he's any of the crew...heck, he may not be disguised at all. He could also be Nakamori. wouldn't be the first time.

also, I think the taser was probably used for activating the locks. or something.

I think he might be briar patching. On his own, Jirokichi might not invite Conan. But let Kid hint that he doesn't WANT the chibi there... and boom, no way will Jirokichi leave him out.

They look fairly light, though, and parkas are quite heavy. I tend to think of them as hoodies.

He could be disguised as Anyone: Shinkai Juri the Reporter, Masui Shougo the cheerful Cameraman, Hisumi Isao the replacement Soundman,
Nakamori-keibu, any of the police, or Uncle Jiroki (he does owe a favor after all)
Honestly leaning towards Nakamori-keibu, reasoning being he hasn't really been as "fired up" as usual, expessed concern for the DB with the eletricity and proceeds to engage them in conversation instead of griping about kids at the heist, cast suspision on the tv cast and guards, would put KID in some, if not most, control over the situation (i.e. patroling, positioning of guards, in advisment or control over any changes in plans, able to easily watch the DB, can cast suspision on anyone with few being weary of him)

As for the taser... maybe. I could see the taser being used on Conan (sometimes it's best to look for the simplest answer) or it could be getting held up in prep to use it to get the horn after knocking him out by some other means.

"... must be committed to change" Change voltage? Change charge?

Also question: what's the probability of KID "KIDnapping"(lol joke) Conan for a more private metting of the minds?

I would totally love it if the note did actually mean that he knows about Kudo. Becuase I sometimes forget that there's not even been any evidence of solid proof that Kid knows - it's only been in the movies, and that's actually kinda sad.

I think someone else did it. I've got a feeling that if it'd been Kid, they'd have shown him, because we know who he is. Unless he'd still been in disguise... but I don't think he would. Too much likelihood that someone'd get hurt.

I'd call the Shounen Tantei's new jackets hoodies. They aren't bulky enough for parkas and sweatshirts don't have hoods. *nods*
