Detective Conan / Magic Kaito:
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
Back in November of 2001, I was reading Fushugi Yuugi fanfiction when I stumbled across Hanging on by a Thread by WMChichiri. I'd also seen Detective Conan adverts around in Japanese bookstores in the area, and The Case of the Missing Detective on Krista Perry's site, so I figured 'why not?' and read both of them.
From there, it was Lady Orla and the now defunct Anime Libary that got me caught. Read all the fanfic, then started on what little manga I could find, stumbling up on Jane's Magic Kaito page and falling in love with the Kid.
What got me started writing was that other than Lady Orla and Jaelle's fics, there was no Kid fic to be found, save for one fic on FF.net with the Kaitou Kid bursting into the Mouri Detective Agency with a machine gun and shooting everyone.
-I got pissed off and decided that if there wasn't Kid fic, we'd have to write him ourselves. Haven't stopped writing him since.
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
Um. 7.5 years later and we're still here. For someone who used to turn over a new fandom every 6 months, think we're in it for the long haul. New facets of the characters are always there to be explored.
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
Movie 3, Movie 8. Any of the massive Kid cases. Sunset Mansion, Kid vs Yaiba, Kid's Teleportation Magic would prolly be the current top three.
'Demon at Koushin', the crossover with Yoban Saato makes me squee.
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
At this point, the only thing I haven't done is Vid or actual scanlations. Fiction, Art, Icons, Chat, Forum, Cosplay, Data Sites, Mod, done it all.
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
Yes. I think it's a 'scary series' because of the sheer size, but there's lots of assets and characters to explore.
Danny Phantom:
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
Random channel flipping during a short time period we had cable. YAY GHOSTS!
Didn't start playing until after stumbling upon random rec for a CSI/Danny Phantom crossover called Running Blind. (still the best DP fic ever, IMHO)
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
It's one we come back to occasionally, whenever plunnies strike.
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
Hmm. Not sure.
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Fanfiction primarily, although we have a few doodles and icons done. Usually discussions are with Ellen Brand, I avoid forums.
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
Honestly, this seems to be a dying fandom because of a few reasons. 1: There's no new episodes coming out, which is the fastest killer of a series. 2: Most of the active fanbase are/were tweenies and with a few exceptions, the quality of the fiction reflects that. There's also some lingering wank in this fandom, which scared off a lot of fans when it was more active.
Kamen Rider:
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
One word:lazulisong. She drew me in with Kabuto's sweet sweet yaoi crack. Seriously, Tendou. What The Hell?!
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
Honestly, eventually move on unless another season grabs like Kabuto did. It's a side fixation, but still highly enjoyable. Bendy guys in spandex and fun action scenes? Oh, yeah. Even if they aren't animated. ^^;;
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
Kabuto. Love Kabuto. The plot twists are great and I like all the characters. Still waiting to see where Decade goes.
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Hmm... Fic, icons and squeeing. M'not sure if that last counts as 'discussion'.
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
Yes. It's a small under-used genre with fun fight scenes, and many possibilities for any sort of fic or art or anything, really. GO WATCH SOME BENDY GUYS IN SPANDEX. THEY KICK HIGH.
