Blast from the Past
Jul. 8th, 2008 12:59 pmHahahahaha. Hahaha. Ha. ha.
Reading an article on Reuthers about Gangs in Arizona and got a bit of a blast from the past.
-One of the gangs mentioned was 'East Side Torrance'.
From age 4 until I was about 10, I lived in the Harbour Gateway area, which was in the middle of EST territory. Only white family for five blocks in any direction. We moved about 6 months after our house got tagged with 'EST' and someone got beat up on our front lawn.
... To this day, the sound of police helicopters makes me sleepy, cause it was my favourite lullaby as a kid.
Well, it looks like EST has expanded past the east side of Torrance and the Harbour Gateway area of LA and into Southern Arizona. >P Joy.
And co-workers in New Zealand wondered why I laughed when they complained about the 'scary graffiti' done by dumb-shyte kids in the parks. >D

Date: 2008-07-08 08:57 pm (UTC)I grew up on E. 211th St, in Lakewood
the gutter infront of my house was the border with Hawaiian Gardens.
It was always bloods vs crypts in my area. They built a 7 ft fence with razor wire around the top around the local High School pool to keep the gang morons from getting in drowning folks in it.
One thing I miss... the Foster's Freeze that was on the corner. So much yum.
