Note to future self: Yup. Still can't digest pork. Don't. Eat. It.
Also, bring water bottle to archery, it's heating up. Dehydration + Up-chucking = Poor Weekend.

Still, it's been a good couple of days. Went to art supply stores with Megs on Thursday, I have new toys markers that I'm cackling over, watched 'The Colour of Magic' with everyone on Friday, shot archery and tried a new chinese food place on Saterday. The food was good, but don't think I'll be back to there again.

Today, I slept 15 hours and am pretty much back to normal. ^_^ Ysabet and Linda and Sean and Megs went to Aqua Caliente and it seems my joke-habit of taking pictures of Megs sleeping has caught on with the rest of the group. *laughs* Sorry, Megs! XD

-This Week's New Manga-
20th Century Boys and the sequel, 21st Century Boys by Urasawa Naoki. Read it because I enjoyed Pluto quite a bit and [livejournal.com profile] fusakugyoku recommended his other stuff.
Um... dunno if I'd recommend this one, actually. It's 249 chapters + 16 chapters of the sequel and takes place bouncing around four different time frames, sometimes two at the same time. It's an interesting, if complicated read.
I did like the question of what can an average man, who is falsely labelled as a terrorist, do to take down a organisation that has secretly intertwined itself on all levels of the government. (Conan, anyone?)
... the eventual answer of 'Wait 18 years and restart Woodstock' was not one I had expected.
However, they get a massive win for the Yoban Sado Reference.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
-I tried reading this series about half a year ago and was unable to finish the first volume due to the rampant stupidity of the story. (a first for me) But kept seeing it around, and Tsuna with the flames on his head looked frikkin' cool, so after reading some advice on another journal, started reading at volume 8 / chapter 61.
*Squeeeeeee* OMG! Plot! We ended up ficcing it after reading only 15 chapters. ^___^

Um. Gokudera is totally our favourite, hands down. He's like Jounouchi, with dynamite. Also? Reborn's line about "It’s said that Gokudera Hayato can hide bombs in any part of his body.", totally have to fic. (Nerd!Gokudera FTW!)
Lambo comes in at a close second. We weren't sure about him for a while, but his comment after his 5-year old self coming out of the bath with all the girls and commenting about the bath is full of boobies kinda cemented it. The fact that Adult!Lambo is voiced by the same guy who did Kaiba Seto is just full of crack and win.

-Did end up going back and reading the earlier chapters (which were still stupid) to get backgrounds for characters, but starting with plot and going back seemed to work much better than wading through the stupid first, because you get to see how much they've grown.
Overall, standard Shonen Jump fare, but still fun. ^___^ Now if you'll excuse me, m'gonna continue the search for more 5927 stories. >D

Happy Birthday Astro Boy!

Ficcage: Detective Conan/Katekyo Hitman Reborn - Meeting the Mob

As another person that couldn't get into Katekyoushi Hitman Reborn because of the stupidity, I really recommend watching the anime instead of reading the manga. Found it much more digestible. I still have problems reading the more current chapters of the manga, so I'm diligently waiting for the anime to catch up. Right now they're trying to be serious and funny at the same time and failing miserably (well, from my point of view).

*laughs tiredly* Amused by the timing, just finished posting our first full Katekyo Hitman Reborn fic to the ficblog (http://mischif.insanejournal.com/5025.html) and wander over here and see this post. XD

Have currently read chapters 1-3, 7-188 of the manga (we should back track and fill in where they got Yamamoto, cause we're a bit lost there) and episodes 1-3, 9, 29-29, 32, 72, 74 and a few other random ones that I"m forgetting.

Having pretty much finished the manga, not really all that interested in the fight scenes in the anime at the moment, (you're right, the current ones in the manga are kinda dragging) am looking more for the comedy stuff because there is So. Much. Potential. for crack right there. ^____^

Kinda can't wait to get to the end of the current arc and get to Gokudera's discussion with Bianchi (what is her Family name?) and the explanation of the Arcobaleno. Have a few theories, but don't wanna get Jossed. #^^#

I honestly like the fighting more than most of the comedy in the series. But then, I'm one of those people that gets a kick out of people underestimating the main character. ^_^

I think everyone is kinda at a loss about Yamamoto. He just kinda thought Gokudera and Tsuna are playing a funny game, decides to join and doesn't leave when it turns out to be real. There's also the possibility he just has yet to realize this isn't a game, which I really wouldn't put past him. XD

Bianchi is Gokudera Hayato's sister, so I'm assuming her family name would also be Gokudera. She's not married, that I know of, since she's, uh, 'dating' Reborn.

I'm still working on catching up with the anime, let alone the manga. XD Taking me longer than I thought because I want to rewatch the ring fights. >.> If you have any questions about the series, I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. ^_^
