Four days ago, the object of research was 'What happens to murderers after Conan catches them?', with a focus on sentencing. The majority of murders in DC is 'First Degree', people do it on purpose, while 'Second Degree' is usually considered accidental.
I could find answers on life sentence and parole, prison life and the death penalty/executions. The last one I found the most interesting, as it describes the execution rooms. It's not what you'd expect.

Then today, I glance up the news feeder and find an article about the Japanese Justice Minister wanting to find a more tranquil method of execution.

*face palm* the timing...

... I need to start on our Halloween spooky fics...

In Japan, there were 954 deaths caused by murder, armed robbery, arson and a crime known as "bodily injury" in the year 2002, according to the government. And Conan solves, what, 20 murders a year or so? No wonder "Sleeping Kogoro" is so famous. And infamous. Totally would NOT want the Mouris in my backyard, the sky would be raining corpses.

... speaking of which, I need to pester you about Grey Deal. Consider yourself pestered. ^^

In a phone call to Heiji, Conan had solved 7 cases in the past month to Heiji's 6.
Taken as an average, that's what? 84 cases a year? o_O

I know, I know, I really need to work on Grey Deal. TGA's been bugging me anyway, we've got like three new scenes done.

I didn't know Japan had the death penalty. That's a new thing I learned today. And those articles are very interesting. I especially like the one on the execution chamber. It's very well written. Thanks for sharing.

They do... I recommend watching the movie The 13 Steps (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0343094/) as it has a detailed account of convicts on the death penalty row. Once sentenced to death, the convicts are kept in the dark as when they are going to be executed. They may wait for months or even years without knowing anything. They are only informed in the morning of their executing day.

The method used is hanging (trap door). After the convict is tied to the noose, three officers are instructed to push three buttons simultaneously. Only one these buttons releases the door, but they don't know which one. This is done so that the officers won't carry on the guilt of having killed the convict.

I guess the article already mention most of this.

Yup, but it's good to get it verified from someone else. ^___^

Thank you! If I see that movie around, will definitely watch it!

girl_starfish here on an RP journal. Which is kind of appropriate given we're talking detectives!

I saw that article too, although really I am commenting to say that I saw your music choice and squeed a lot. Then I saw the Re: Your Brains quote and heh.

Ah, Tim Drake's username is its_the_cape (from that Young Justice scene). However, in the second Titans episode, Blackfire's all 'Robin, I love the mask' and his response is this icon actually -- you can tell he's thinking it.

When Robin and Tim thread, it looks like they're having an argument. Mask. Cape. Mask. Cape.

There are some clips on youtube from a live performance he did -- not only is he funny musically, but he seems a really nice chap!
