It's been something I've been thinking about doing for a while, so when someone on MC1T asked about it, we started working on doing a list of the heist notes.

Finding the notes themselves isn't that hard. It's the other part, asking the scanlators and translators for permission if we can use their translations on the site with credit. Have tracked down everyone we could find who translated stuff and sent off requests already, merely waiting for responses back now.

Problems are we can't find who did the re-edits (which are MARVELLOUS) on vol 16 and 44. There's no credit in the files, or on the re-edit pages.

We have no way to contact Jane, who did the original set of MK translations, all of her old e-mails don't go to her anymore and she's long since left fandom. Kaze no Koe, who did Movie 3, is now defunct and I'm not sure if we've gotten a message through to Nazo not Kami for movie 8 or not.

... so do we not post their translations, or post their translations with credit and say I couldn't get ahold of them?
It's a pet peeve of mine when people re-post our creations without asking, I really don't want to do it to someone else.

Help!!!!

[Edit: We got our first response back!!! It's from Yakuza, who did vol 53. *laughs* Oh, I'm saving that e-mail.]

Considering you feel that strongly about it, I would say no. Maybe just a "there was a heist note at such and such, but we don't have permission from the original translator to host it here."?

I do feel strongly about it and I don't at the same time.

Pretty much the response from the translators that I have talked to and gotten permission from is that the translations were done for people to read and for them to be used.

But as stated, I don't like using things people have put a lot of time and effort into without asking first. (which is rather ironic, considering that we're not asking the original publishers or author)

So the choice kind of is use the translations and state that despite efforts we could not find the person, or attempt to either translate it ourselves or beg someone else to do it.

The tempting way is the first one, it's easier and we're lazy. #^^# but is not a good standard to set either... *sighs*
