• I'm getting no love this weekend with our net connection. Apologies for our lack of presence.

• It's cloudy outside, I've virtually sleep-walked my way through the weekend anyway (accursed lack of direct sunlight >P) so we don't really have the energy to be bouncy all over our f-list anyway. Neh. *grumpy*

• Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] avilina!!!

• We have a new tea mug!!! It's a one litre glass mug. >D TEA, DAMMIT!!!

• Guard Dog is currently on Temporary Stasis. We promised ourselves if anyone ever noticed the lack of timeline/the fact it doesn't match up, we'd sit down, do a massive re-edit and fix this. Someone noticed, so we are.

-In the meantime, you can find a FULL version of the current fic here in one big file, including omake. If people have edits or questions or things they'd like to see (save for the next scene), now's the time to speak up.

• On the other hand, we finally finished the last chapter of TGZ. Now all we have to do is finish the chapters -BEFORE- it. ~_~;;

• Question/Pondering, RE: LJ's latest insanity/soap opera and taking into consideration technical aspect and broo-ha-ha over at DevArt about underage characters will always be underage despite being drawn older (see recently added rule 12).

Out of the ten series we've written for over the past year, what age are majority of the animated characters?

-before we 'aged them up', natch.

• We were debating creating a back-up journal before the latest burst of drama, but were kind of waiting to see where everyone ended up, because we're a Fandom Whore and like to keep track of authors and read fics. So now that we've found out, [livejournal.com profile] impfics is getting a mirror:

http://mischif.greatestjournal.com

(Yay! We finally got 'Mischif' on a blog again!). Feel free to friend or what not, not much there at the moment. Will copy over Impfics and prolly some ficcage from Ickaimp over there once we have time and good net access again.

[livejournal.com profile] ickaimp we've had for over four years and most of it is travel ramblings anymore, so we're not going to worry about moving it just yet. Kinda waiting to see what happens.

And I just almost posted this to the wrong journal... *yawns* That's it, m'gonna go get some tea...

"LJ's latest insanity/soap opera and taking into consideration technical aspect and broo-ha-ha over at DevArt about underage characters will always be underage despite being drawn older (see recently added rule 12)."

. . . Wait, whut? *Stares vaguely.*
I'm gonna go sleep on that and maybe it'll make more sense in the morning.

Happy B-Day to Avilina and YEAY for Awesome sounding Tea Mug! \o/

Enjoy your tea. :c3

DevArt had an unwritten policy that if you took, say Danny and Sam from Danny Phantom, drew them as adults and doing adult things (or PDA), it still counted as underage. Because obviously you were just being a pervert.

-unfortunately, the link that I had with the DeviantArt personnel explaining it got deleted. Fortunately, they added in that rule 12 to make it 'written' instead of 'unwritten'.

12. Fictional underage characters taken from popular television series, movies, or other sources portrayed as an "adult" in order to utilize one of these prohibited themes will be subjected to close scrutiny by staff. Such claims will be considered void in any case where the staff deems that significant and telling changes of the original underage character design were not attempted or that such efforts were inadequate.

The current broo-ha-ha with LJ is because they deleted a BNF's mature artwork of Snape and a very obviously adult Harry, not because of child pornography, but because of 'artistic merit' (http://news.livejournal.com/102095.html?thread=54713039). (the picture in question has since been turned into a macro and plastered across LJ)

So basically, LJ holds the right to ban you because they don't like your art style.

There's also some other stupidity, such as LJ stating they can change the TOS without notifying their customers, one of the banned people had a permanent account that they have as of yet not refunded and an LJ employee publicly mocking the people who protested (http://firefox.org/news/articles/555/1/Livejournal-Employee-Publicly-Mocks-Fandom/Page1.html) with the same account he used to deliver policy posts on lj_biz.

Lovely business practises, isn't it?

Granted, LJ is hashed at by a number of sides (http://synecdochic.livejournal.com/147625.html), I still think it's better safe than sorry. Especially since majority of anime characters are under 18, even if I usually write them older.

Is all this recent stuff? I never noticed it on D@, but then again, I never follow the news posts that closely, nor the forums/d@mn channels.

"significant and telling changes of the original underage character design were not attempted"
This bit reassures me that it's not a dumb rule out of the blue. 8D; I can see why they'd be worried about people trying to side step the rules in that way, though it's both highly unfortunate for those who aren't that talented at "ageing up" characters in their drawing and terrifyingly vague wording in the sense that it can allow unfair extremes of procedure.

"So basically, LJ holds the right to ban you because they don't like your art style."
That's why I've been reading up on this left and right despite not wanting to get distracted from essay (which is nearing completion, alleluia.) The idea is distressing, and the whole thing reeks of business without good customer relations. I'm not too bothered by mister burr's slip-up, but I am at how the "suspensions"(bannings?) were set up and the lack of transparency in general. I wish there'll be some statement soon on the issue, but I've not got much hope. D:

And agreed that it's better safe then sorry, I just go all ">_>;" at seeing mirrors go up because I've chosen not to do so and seeing them makes me doubt. ^__^;

*pokes her icon* I wonder if this is considered "risque" now or not? =.=;

Sooooo... what do Conan and Ai-kun count as? Sheesh. People grow up; EVERYBODY was underage at some point. And what if the show had a see-the-future ep., like in Simpsons (SHOOT ME) and Without A Trace, and all the kids were of-age? What about Naruto, where the canon skips three years and suddenly all these 12-year-olds are 15 (which, yes, is still underage but teenagers do that stuff)? What about Inuyasha-- the title character was stuck to a tree for fifty years, one of the others came back from the grave, yet another was an adult woman a few months old. Saiyuki, Goku is FIVE HUNDRED SOMETHING.

From what I -understand- (which may be wrong), when it comes to US law, it doesn't matter how old the character actually is, it's how old the character -appears- to be.

Goku may be 500 years old, but as long as he looks under 18, he's under age. ~_~

Which, yeah... how old are the Gosho Guys? >P

Well, I appear to be 18, 14 behind the wheel of a large car, and I'm 27! OMG, DELETE NAUGHTY PICTURES OF ME. I know, I know, I'm nonfictional, but the point stands.

Allie says that all somebody has to do is draw a little anime character based off me, and OMG UNDERAGE TEH EBIL BAHLEET.

oO Somehow I feel the need to apologise for mentioning Mokuba's age......*grovels* I'm sorry. >o<

Man, all the crap with the sites is rediculous. >.> It's not like they can monitor everything anyway. Something is bound to be missed anyway. *agrees with Joisbishmyoga*

Mmm....tea. I want a giant tea mug. Where'd you get it from? ^___^

No, no need to apologise. We've known about the inconsistency for a couple of years now, ever since it actually gained a plot. But as long as no one said anything, we were content to let it go. ^^;;

And talking to Ysabet, there's a couple of scenes we're gonna add anyway, such as Jounouchi running around Kaiba Corp offices, which we've mentioned but never shown, so it's prolly a good thing.

A great deal of the stupidity with SixApart is probably because they're trying to clean up their image in preparation publicly sell stock for the company.

Unfortunately, their lack of foresight is having the opposite reaction, methinks.

Ashamedly, we got the teamug o'doom at Walmat for $2. It's technically a beer tankard, but we had one in NZ we used for tea and I've missed it. ^^;;

^^; Still, lol. But I'm glad that you guys were planning on new stuff anyway. Your talent for humor is amazing and so refreshing to read over and over again.

hmmm...wal-mart eh? I have three dollars lying around... *sadly out of a job* XD I'll have to look for one. Although I don't think even -I- could finish it before my tea got lukewarm and ick. XDD

I wonder if I could argue that they're above age in their native country and it doesn't matter where I live? Doubt it but it's an argument to try.

Ch, not that I care anyway, I will continue to write/draw the characters as I see fit. It's not that hard to get around a ban (I worked abuse at two websites, I know the tricks of the trade and then some).
