Anime series that Aunty Icka! has been poking at and giggling:
Yes, that is a statue of Conan that Hayate cleaned.
Hayate the Combat Butler
We've been following this series for a while now, ever since Kaitou Ann introduced us to the manga. It's a fun, little heard of comedy series that pokes fun at everything it can and argues with the narrator. -At least in the anime. The series just started last week, both episodes One and Two can be found subbed on Veoh.
Sonic X
Saw the first episode the day it premiered in Japan and loved the fact that they're dealing with small furry anthropomorphic people running loose in the 'Real World'. We'd managed to get the first 12 episodes in HK subs before it hit the states. The dub voices and changes drove me nuts, some of the jokes were funnier left alone. Was very happy to find all the episodes subbed on DailyMotion, and have slowly been re-working my way through it.
Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z
... how did we get started watching this? Haven't a clue. I hate shoujou. *sighs* And it's totally shojou. Forget the Powerpuff girls you knew, Momoko (Hyper Blossom) Miyako (Rolling Bubbles) and Kaoru (Powered Buttercup) are not sisters. They became their superpowered alter egos due to an accident with the Proffessor's son Ken, Chemical Z, a Laser Beam and a Glacier in the middle of Tokyo Bay. We would have walked away at that point, except that when Kaoru transformed for the first time she started pitching a fit about not having worn a skirt since Kindergarden. *cackles*
Episodes are found with various groups on Veoh.
Kinda wanna watch more subs of the 2003 series of Astroboy.... although Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro just started up as an anime again... ^___^
DailyMotion tends to have a lot of non-english dubs/subs on it, which is really cool. Unfortunately they just recently posted a restriction on length, so a recently uploaded half-hour episode is cut into two parts. -Which is still better than three parts on Youtube. Older episode posts are still one part long.
Veoh tends to have a lot more english subs and apparently a longer run length, so they have stuff like subtitled movies. Warning tho, their main page automatically downloads a video and starts playing it, which is annoying.
Random: Ysabet found out that I haven't seen any MST3K.
-after she re-started her heart, she proclaimed I still had braincells to kill and starting waxing poetic while comparing it to Cheese Whiz.
I'm not sure I ever want to see it now...

Date: 2007-04-11 09:32 am (UTC)That site was sent to me by a friend, who I think just wanted to hear the screams.
... no screaming, but the 'naked in the middle of the forest' pictures reaaaaaally make me wonder. o_O

Date: 2007-04-11 10:50 pm (UTC)It's addictive, isn't it?
The one that nailed it for me was during the haunted house episode, they go looking for Miyako's grandmother, who is missing from her bed.
They find her in the bathroom, reading a book while sitting on the pot. "I like to read in here sometimes..."

Date: 2007-04-11 01:32 pm (UTC)One would be Negima (the manga, not the anime, they REALLY messed up the anime when they made it). The english translation of said manga is pretty well done, and it's by Ken Akamatsu... aka, the guy that did Love Hina. Think Harry Potter meets Tenchi Muyo... with a tiny bit of GTO thrown in. Read with caution, it will make you feel like a dirty, perverted person.
This one isn't an anime or manga, per se... but it's free, so no need to go buy it. Check out Alien Dice (( http://www.aliendice.com/ )). Artwork isn't the greatest, but the plot = much love, AND the author puts text underneat each comic, to flesh it out. It's almost more like an illustrated novel than an online comic.
Finally, don't be afraid of MST3K. It's basically people watching movies and being very snarky about it.

Date: 2007-04-11 10:53 pm (UTC)Alien Dice? Hmm...sounds interesting. XD Plot will trumph artwork any day, because it lasts longer. ^___^
*salutes* Snark is always good. (most of the 'being afraid to watch' is mostly giving Ysabet a hard time, but don't tell her that, okay? ~_^ )

Date: 2007-04-12 02:41 am (UTC)If you're curious, the basic start of Alien Dice can be summed up in a couple sentences: What would you do if you had an alien in your backyard in the middle of the night asking for a two-tailed cat that showed up on your doorstep? In Chelsea Reid's case... she shoots him.
Things go downhill from there. After patching up said alien (Lexx), it's revealed that the two-tailed cat was once her kitten. Lexx needs it for his game. Chel refuses to give it up. The cat points out that Chel could go with Lexx. Chel agrees, due to being REALLY bored.
I'll leave it to you to decide whether you want to check it out. Just a warning though, you find out pretty quickly that Lexx has a LOT of issues. A LOT.
*Dives back into the shadows that spawned her*

Date: 2007-04-11 04:11 pm (UTC)And the lurker is right, MST3K is about a guy and his robot companions watching really *bad* movies and making them funnier with their snarky comments.
Hayate the Combat Butler sounds like fun. I think I'll check it out.

Date: 2007-04-12 01:18 am (UTC)I've heard of MST3K, just never seen it. Ysabet was commenting that it's not B-movies that they're watching, but F-Movies.
PPGZ is really addictive, scarily so. But it's cute light fluff, which is what I really needed earlier this week. ^^

Date: 2007-04-12 03:09 am (UTC)Yes, F-grade movies. *snickers* They are pretty bad.
Good to hear you had what you needed. ^_^
