Okay, it REALLY should have been a sign when I went to the Mitsuwa during lunch and they were playing 'Secret of My Heart'. Think I scared some people while humming along while picking up food...

Asahiya had Detective Conan #43 as well. >^.^<
The first story shall be now known as The 'Everyone Stare at Genta's Big Butt' story. Because they do.
Second story was cute. Heiji so very cool. Does good un-dead impressions.
File 445/Chapter 10: Mamono no Tsumu Koushien (Uhh... 'Goblin at Koushien'-?)
Insert Squeal of Joy Here.

Second page after the nice splash page: Kudo-lookalike #1 with a baseball bat. Oppisite him: Kudo-lookalike #2 with the brim of his hat covering one eye and a smirk on his face while he plays with his ball. (shaddup)

No big deal, right?

WRONG! *Poing!* *Poing!* *Poing!*

Gosho had a Baseball Manga series that came out in 1993 called 'Yoban Saado', ('Yoban Third Base' literally. Dutch sites call it '3rd Base 4th')
The two characters battling it out on the baseball feild in chapter 445? Yup, you guessed it. 2 of the main characters.

The one wearing the 'Kohnan' (c'mon! Say it outloud! XD Conan!) jersey is the third baseman, and also the 'Yoban', or fourth person to hit, the pinch hitter who clears the bases. His name is Nagashima Shigeo. (who is also a a real man, also known as 'Mr. Giants')) After making some sort of a deal with a skinny old man with a huge mustache, a man in a Yomuri Giants uniform (number 14) gives him a bat, and vanishes.
It's Babe Ruth's bat.
To get a home run, he puts money into his back pocket, or where ever is closest to the bat (??? not sure, I can't read japanese) The larger the amount of money, the more powerful the hit. (he leaves holes in walls. Big Holes.)
To earn money for this, he gets a part time job at Coffee Kage Tora (Shadow Tiger?). The owner is a HUGE Hanshin Tigers fan, not to mention baseball fan. (um... I think he might be Enatu Yutaka, Tigers pitcher 1967-84)
He becomes friends with the owner's daughter as well. ^__^

I'm pretty sure his rival in the Ohgane (Yaiba reference? Kurogane?) uniform is Inao Kasuhisa aka, 'Iron Man Inao'. ^__^
He's got an item from the man with a mustache as well, Sawamura Eiji's glove.
Sawamura Eiji struck out Babe Ruth, and a number of other Major Leaguers in 1934.

^_____^

This is Gosho, there's a twist. Several actually. References to the Emperor's Game in it as well. Kept expecting Sadaharu Oh to show up somewhere, but I can't read well enough to find out.

Back to Conan #445. Looks like their respective teams have made it to Koshien (again, they made it in the Yoban Third Base manga, they're back again to battle it out while Conan and Heiji run around.)

Koshien is the spring and summer High School Baseball Tournaments, held at Hanshin Koshien Kyujo, home of the Hanshin Tigers, in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. (in the Kansai reigon, close to Kobe and Osaka). Only the like top 10 teams of 4,000 are allowed to compete, so compitition is fierce. There's a later one in the fall in Tokyo, but it doesn't seem to hold the same draw.

Anyway. Majorly cool to spot the crossover. *bounces*

Jim Allen's Baseball Page was very helpful with reasearch, as was A Slightly Askew Glossary of Japanese Baseball Terms
