I moved from Arizona to New Zealand, and this is the view in NZ.
Yes, the irony kills me too.

Yeah. She wrote the Kenshin fic, 'Prism' (http://www.flame.org/~calger/fanfiction.html). ^__^

Um... as far as why the Teepee is there... dunno.
There's also a forge in their back yard (or so my 6" tall friend says) and evidently a teepee is good to do forge work in... *shrugs*
Dunno. #^^#

Wow, what an amazing landscape. Nealy beats mine. Snow, red brick terraced houses and purple laundry drying with yellow. Oh yeah, and a dead-looking tree.
Nice teepee they have. (Whos is it anyways?)

The Teepee belongs to our next-door neighbour. No idea why they have it, but I grin everytime I see it.
I'm in the city, but the porthills are nearby and nice to look at. Lotta turn of the century architeture too. ^____^
No snow yet, but it's fall here, so it'll come soon.

**totally aside from teepee conversation, but I just put it here so I could get a look at the pic again. Wow...**

Hey, Icka? I have an arts challenge for you-- oh hell, actually I just thought of a funny pic and can't draw worth a damn myself and am wondering what I can bribe you with to do it... **sheepish look** You know what's-his-face from Bleach with the Big Head of Spiky Black Hair and the cute little pink-haired chibi who rides around on his back? I was looking at a REALLY nice piece of art with a grownup version of Pink!Chibi, and then sort of started wondering how she'd look with her hair done EXACTLY like her eyepatched sort-of-dad, bells and all. And then I went, "I wonder if I could bribe Icka to draw this? Wow, it'd make an awfully good icon..."

**hides beneath desk**

I can kill somebody off in a fic for you if you'd like, or turn you into one of the card-characters in the KK/YGO crossover, or write something new, or drag you into Windfall (which has finally restarted in my head), or... **hopeful look** Hmmmmmmmmmm??? I could kill off Kiwi in a fic if you'd like, but I'm not sure how he'd feel about that. >__> Don't hurt me, Kiwi! I mean well! Put down that platypus! **runs**

Right now we couldn't catch a plunnie with a carrot and a naked bishi.

I guess the difference is that in NZ they apparently have not killed the native population with germs and land grabbing - or maybe they did and then took their treasure...

Date: 2006-03-23 07:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ickaimp.livejournal.com
Um... actually the native ecological systems are of importance now.
In Victorian times, they'd bring over things that completely distroyed the native animals and plant life. (ferrets, cats, RATS, gorse, opossums, cutting down the native hardwoods as useless)
They're trying to undo the damage now, restore as much as possible.

...were there that many people-using-teepees originally in Arizona? I thought they were mostly people living in domeder or blockier huts/houses/interconnected-buildings-atop-each-other before the Europeans came.

I've never lived in Arizona and visited it a grand total of thrice, though, so it's not as if I'm knowledgable on the subject.

You tend to see a lot of pueblo style adobe in Arizona, never actually saw a teepee. Teepee I think were mainly used by the Native Americans on the plains, not the desert, where the thicker walls are better insulation from the heat.

I saw a few teepee when I lived in New Mexico, where you do get the occasional grasslands.

but I think the irony is still there. ^___^
