A & S Help
Mar. 21st, 2006 10:21 pmNeed help for an Arts and Sciences Project. Due tomorrow. ^^;;
This is a Kea. (Google image search 'Kea + bird')
I need various discriptions of what the bird looks like, without using the word 'parrot'.
... the idea is that I then draw the bird based off the discriptions. If people could do so, I would be extremely grateful.
Historically, this has lead to rather interesting results. Which is half the fun. ~_^
[Edit: Thanks Everyone!]

Date: 2006-03-21 06:36 pm (UTC)A strongly-built bird, looking something like a large hawk or eagle in body-shape; its bill is hooked like that of an Osprey. Its plumage is bottle-green with a thin scarlet band on the back of its neck and beneath the wings. Its legs are strong, with large talons for tearing at its prey.
Any help? Ganbate!

Date: 2006-03-21 07:05 pm (UTC)Probably the size of a chicken. (Hey, says here (http://www.terranature.org/kea.htm) they're called bush hens!) It's head, however, is closer to it's body (to preserve warmth?) so it has less neck.
It's plumage is of darkish greens and browns, although under it's wings it shows Bright Red feathers to yellow spots of feathers to brown/green feather-tips.
It has a dark colored beak, at the top of which are two sort of bumps (can be red, yellow, brown...) with a hole each (nostrils? Similar to budgies' any rate >__> ).
It has bead-like eyes placed on his head besides it's beak&nostrils at a height suggesting
it has a crew cuthis head to be flattish above them.Like the Kiwi, it's tail end seems to be shortish, dragging/perking it's hind flight tails until it hops into flight.
The lower beak is smaller and lighter colored than the top one. The top one hooks over the bottom one and looks a bit like a claw...
It's feet are like that of a pigeon, only dark colored and slightly less thigh/long.
It seems to like to hop around a lot instead of flying.
%And fails with a longish paragraph >.>%
