BECAUSE I AM A LAZY BASTARD.

Have one Viking dress (brown, with blue trim), one Middle Eastern dress (dark red) and a pair of navy harem pants (non-translucent, you pervs)

We have a Faire the first weekend of Febuary.

Does anyone have any suggestions for costuming/time periods for me to dress in? Gonna need a few more outfits than what I already have.

was thinking if we do a dark persian outfit, can be a pirate-ninja! XD

A merchant from the middle east or a traveler, maybe? >< I wouldn't know. Never dressed up at that sort of thing.

Yeah, I still hafta think of a persona, don't have a historical character yet.
Just making lots of clothing. ^^;; Some of which I wear in normal life, because I'm a freak like that. ^____^

No worries. I have a friend who does that. She has all sorts of costume bits she wears to her classes.

Woot! Go Ytak's Friend!! XD

Most of the 'odd' stuff I wear is from my Grandparents, who did historical re-enactment as well. Black powder / US Frontier / Mountain Man era, so only 150 years back.
But I have several calico riverman shirts with wood buttons that generally get odd looks. ^__^ But they're comfortable and they're sturdier than a lot of store-bought clothing, so I wear them.

Also have a chinese shirt that I wear as a jacket that I'm slowly starting to cover with odd patches.

Um... can see it here. (http://pics.livejournal.com/ickaimp/gallery/00009s6s) ^_^

Heh. I think people should wear what they want. Comfort is highest on my priority list (despite the fact that my parents think I should get nicer clothing). ::has never understood fashion trends:: Part of me thinks we should all go back to tunics because they are simple and comfortable.

::looks one way, then they other:: My friend who dresses up is ceramic_chicken.

No later than 1600, right? Hm...*thinks*

You could go as a druid? O_o? Um...*thinks*

...yeesh, I thought I would be better at thinking about this sort of thing. Actually, I can think of a number of roles, but they're not for women =___=;;; Stupid men from the past~~!

Yeah...>.>;;;

Yeah, 1600s. Coffee and Bananas are -barely- period.

Hmm... Druid might be fun. Was thinking a Nun might be funny as well. ^___^

It doesnt matter if Coffee aint period. We musssst have it!11

I'm doing simple t-tunics, baggy pants/shorts, and pirate shirts.

Hurrah for generic!Peasant.

Actually, I'm thinking something along the lines of the son of a herbist/apothecary and something involving lots of leather

*cannot spell*

If you can find someone to help you make a coathardie/kirtle pattern, you'll be set! It's self supporting for even the most endowed ladies. I can't wait to make one for myself... got my pattern done, just not so much in the way of time at the moment... :)

I couldn't decide if I wanted to be a Pirate or a Ninja, so why not combine them both? ^____^

You could get a strip of navy fabric and wear it as a wrap top with the pants?

Um... hate to break this to you... a G-cup is about 40 pounds of mass.
I'd break the fabric!!!

But I'll consider looking into that after I start up belly dancing classes again. *shimmies hips*

Depends on the Faire's time period is. At the moment, I'm assuming a Ren-faire type.

Even though Persia wasn't really part of Faire, most people who don't have the European dress usually go in Middle Eastern or barbaric.

With what you have at the moment, pirate would go nicely.

That's the lovely part about SCA - just about any culture (but mostly Eurpopean) from 600-1600 bc.
there's a thousand years there to play with.

I did Elisabethian costuming for years.
Not going back to a bodice any time soon, thanks. *rubs aching back*

Someone was telling me about one of the SCA Wars where a bunch of people were dressed up as Cavemen, complete with mud and clubs.
When someone's mobile phone went off, they attacked it with the clubs, grunting about 'bad magic'.
-Until someone got hit on the head by accident, in which case they gathered around the paitent, suddenly speaking medical lingo. -The 'Cavemen' were a group of Doctors and Nurses!!!
Once it was established that the guy was gonna be fine, they resumed grunting and playing in the dirt... ^^;;

-Doc is sitting there making Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail comments. ^_____^

How about a kimono?

I'm disapointed that you took down that one post-- I guess it was a fic about Aoko?-- before I had a chance of reading it. ::sniffs:: Ah, well. Life is just like that, I guess.

Have a good time at the Faire! Never been to one myself, but I'd sure like to go.

Sorry, that was a temp post. ^^;; It was all the WIPs for TGZ for someone to read.

Was thinking about doing a japanese farm garb... not a kimono, cause my body is the wrong shape for it. Hmm...

Renn Faires are fun, but you learn more at SCA Faires. ^^;;

Something cool. Canterbury Faire is usually very hot.

Not these days-- new site has more trees and less heat. It's usually _moderately_ warm-hot.

Will prolly still be kinda cool for me. But thinking I will need to make sure I have lots of water to shove down people's throats. ^__^

Thank you!!!

Chinese court robes? I think they're pretty.

(You'd probably need to eyeball in an extra dart or two, though.)

Or Byzantine fashion. Go as Theodora. ^_^
