Was 'Famliy Fun Day' at Little Tokyo today. That with an exibition on post-WWII animation and manga makes for a very cool day. And got to see
Neechan,
Uriel, Shingo and everyone who came down. Very cool. Many glomps. ^_^
There were Taiko Drummers (soooooooo cool!) who just blew me off my feet when they started playing 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B' (see fic below) I suppose it shouldn't surprise me, after seeing them do the Sailor Moon Theme in the Taiko Drumming Game in Japan. ^^;; Yet somehow it did. Love live drumming.
The Chinese Lion Dancing was really neat too. They did 2 styles, Folk and Compition. Compition was amazing, the guy doing the hind legs were picking up the guy in front and lifting him above his head, while that guy is lifitng the mask above his head, making the Lion more than twice as tall as a standing person. Just... 0_O
Did sketches, will scan later.
They also had Karate Demonstrations, tradtional Japanese dance, a hip-hop troup, games for kids, basket ball contest and a skateboard area. And vendors booths. Lots of fun.
Also started picking up the Astro Boy comics translated by Dark Horse. Shingo told me that he shot machine guns out of his butt (sorry, 'hips') way back in Japan, and so I wasn't surprised by that.
Was rather suprised to find him bending over with his hands on his knees and 'Mom' shoving a gas pump up his *ahem*. o_O Don't think they're gonna do that in the new TV series...
Anyway.
7.59:47 in the morning.
Time for class.
Most students are in their classrooms already, reading or talking with friends and classmates while the late comers scrambled to make it to their classes on time for another day of learning.
Or for some, another day of boredom.
"Ba-"
The alarm goes off and the students tense up, the late ones putting on a rush of speed to get there before the chimes end, the rest sighing and moving to their desks if they're not there already.
There's a slight catch in the speakers, barely noticeable, then the melody continues.
"-DA! Ba-da! Ba-ba-da!"
The rush for seats pauses as the up-beat tempo continues for a few bars, then stops after the normal length of time, leaving most students wide-eyed and wondering.
Except for the students of Classroom 2B, who turn to look at the class clown, magician and prankster extraordinaire.
Who was playing idly with a pencil, his head propped up with one hand as he looked rather bored and nonchalant.
Except for the small smirk in the corners of his mouth.
Nakamori Aoko is the first to speak as usual, from the seat next to him. "Do we want to know how you did that?" She deadpans.
"Never mind that." Hakuba Saguru interrupts. "Where the heck did you get a recording of Taiko Drums playing ''The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B'?!"
-fin-
Makes sense when you've read the blurb above, but out of context, that prolly sounds really random, ne? *laughs*
All things at one time or another usually make sense. It's just afterwards that it doesn't.
