[5] [fic] MK: Clipboard
Oct. 26th, 2005 11:11 amJust a small random fic.
Hakuba wanted to know what was up with the damn clipboard.
They were in the middle of a Kid heist, the Task Force on the thief's heels as the Kid bounced around like a jack rabbit, laughed like a loon, grinned like a wolf, blinked at them owlishly and all sorts of other animal-like descriptions, while dragging a clipboard around with him.
And writing in it.
Hakuba had a very bad feeling about it. Not a hunch exactly, more along the lines of instincts honed from experience.
And from the looks some of the Task Force members were giving him, they were getting the same feeling. Hakuba had done his utmost to gain the Kaitou's personal attention and sometimes he paid for it.
"There he is!" One of the officers shouted, pointing towards a glass case the Kid was crouched on. A mass stampede rushed forward, carrying Hakuba along with it.
Kid checked something off on the clipboard. "Look!" Kid shouted, pointing behind them. "It's the Kaitou Kid!!!"
Liked trained puppies, the majority of the Officers turned and began to run the other way.
"Idiots!" Hakuba howled, attempting to lunge for the Kid, who was once again writing something on the clipboard. The press of bodies slowed his movement and the Kid disappeared in a cloud of smoke and confetti just as Hakuba was in grabbing range. The sudden disappearance drew the attention of the mass of officers back in that direction, causing Hakuba to be tossed forward into the case.
Just in time to see a piece of paper float down from the ceiling.
"I got it sir." One of the officers reached up and grabbed the paper before it landed. Hakuba muttered surly gratitude under his breath as he picked himself up and brushed the dust off his clothing.
The Officer looked over the paper and winced. Several of the older officers, veterans to surviving both the Kid heists and Nakamori, quickly and as unobtrusively as possible, backed away.
"What is it?" Hakuba sighed, mentally bracing himself as well.
"Well, it's a..." The man faltered, scratching the back of his neck in a nervous gesture.
"A-?"
"Report Card, sir." The officer's eyebrow's rose. "Evidently we're starting to lack group cohesion, but we got gold stars for creative cussing."
Hakuba pinched the bridge of his nose with two fingers, feeling a sudden headache coming on. He had -known- that damn clipboard was going to be trouble...
