Back from AnimeExpo 2005 and desprately trying to get my brain to work. @_@;; So much to say and none of it coming out right now.
Met up with Becky, ran into Tdei (have you considered playing football? you're a great tackler) and didn't find Sam Curt. ;_; Did end up meeting up with my Dad and family twice. ^___^
Um... Hey, Bridget? Approx half of your art sold... #^^#

Went to the Horikawa Ryo panel at AX. ^__^
He speaks english fairly well and it was his voice during the episode that Heiji speaks english to Jodie-sensei. When he was younger, his family was a host family for an exchange student. He taught her Japanese, she taught him English and he's kept it up. He still had a translator for occasional clarification and to translate his longer answers.
My question (if anyone was there, I was the red-head dressed in all black wearing the corset) was if he practised Kendo, seeing as Heiji and Onimaru from Yaiba also practise Kendo. He said he didn't, but he did so several action things that helped with making the sounds.
The majority of the questions asked were about Vegita from DBZ, which it looked like he kinda got tired of after a while, it's been such a long time since he's worked on it, he's forgotten a lot of details.
He's currently working as a Producer for an anime (I didn't catch the name) designed for both children and adults, involving CGI animation. He also commented he would like to do more voices for Detectives. Huzzah!!!
... had the opertunity to get is autograph, but that's when I met up with Becky Tailweaver and we ended up running off instead. #^^# Sorry.
Also ended up talking with some of the Funi people at their booth, the people running it were mostly from Marketing. (feel to skip if you're up to date on the Funi CC stuff.)
The trouble with the 'Conan' name did indeed come from copyright issues with 'Conan the Barbarian', although they just came to an agreement through lawyers that they can now say 'Detective Conan showing on Case Closed'.
Upcoming DVDs will now have 6 episodes per disk instead of 4 and the covers will be reversable, DC on one side, CC on the other.
They did manage to find away around the name thing in the second movie, the 14th Target, but the marketing people have no idea how. (they made a comment about when the name thing was pointed out, one of the head guys just shrugged and commented that he was glad that he wasn't a writer. ^__^ )
According to them, Kuroba Kaito doesn't have an offical translated name yet.

Will do a better re-cap when either our brain is working again or we scan in the con-report. ^^;; Did lots of sketches.

Date: 2005-07-06 03:24 am (UTC)Wouldn't have been able to go to con otherwise. And it was fun to act as your agent as well.

Date: 2005-07-06 01:45 am (UTC)It has always amused me that Horikawa Ryo's english sounds more realistic than Miss Jodi's. One rather suspects that (in the context of the story) it amuses Heiji somewhat as well.

Date: 2005-07-06 03:17 am (UTC)... DC story wise, also makes a good reason for why Heiji can tell a pure American accent, if he'd learned it from an exchange student his family had been hosting. Mwuahahhahahaha.
-He's also got a good singing voice, he was asked to sing at the panel ^________^

Date: 2005-07-07 12:42 am (UTC)I'm working on the timing of explaining exactly where I come from. ("You know where the soccer and baseball fields are? First place I lived.")
And I think this is your plot bunny, Icka:
<Hakuba> Somebody stole my accent!
(No, no idea, aside from Kaito having something to do with it.)
