More bad phone conversations:

Neechan: Well, Hakuba's got a very nice ass. I'm sure Kaito would probably appreciate stealing it.
Icka!: Eh, you can't tell. Hakuba likes to hide it behind suit coats and jackets.
Icka!: uh...
Icka!: I DID NOT JUST SAY THAT!!!! @_@;;

Neechan *chortles*: For I have discovered Icka's weakness!! IT'S HAKUBA'S ASS!!!
Icka!: NO!!! *squeaks*

Eh, shuddup. I can hear you snickering from the back of the room. ¬_¬

Anyway, more sketches up on deivantart.

There were ups and downs to having been raised out of the country. It was the small things mostly, not the big things like his appearance, that makes him feel like an outsider. Such as being ignorant or forgetting little details, such as purifying yourself at a Shinto Shrine or an old nursery rhyme.

However, it's those same small differences that also can give him the leeway to do things that could be considered improper.

Such as today's small ritual and it's oh-so tempting target.

He and Kuroba had gotten used to walking together. Sometimes it was because of the girls --either in their company or avoiding the Terrible Twosome-- but most of the time it was simply because it was nice to walk with a friend, even if they didn't end up saying anything or if they were bantering back and forth. Or chasing each other, but that was another story.

What was important was that they were both used to having each other in their personal space. It was, for the most part, safe.

Usually.

Sometimes.

But not today.

At least not for Kuroba.

A surreptitious glance around their location revealed that they were the only ones around. Which was exactly what he was hoping for.

It's hard to keep from smirking as he casually reaches out, grabbing a bit of fabric, skin and muscle between his thumb and forefinger and pinching it.

Kuroba lets out a magnificent squeak, jumping into the air and grabbing the offended part of his anatomy. The dumbfounded look of betrayal on the magician is just too much and Hakuba grins in return.

"You pinched me!" Kuroba is outraged.

"Yes."

He gets a glare in return that's more of a question than an effort to shoot him full of daggers from Kuroba's eyes. "Are you wearing green?" Hakuba asks patiently.

"No." The outrage has faded slightly to petulance. "What's that got to do with it?"

Hakuba gestures expansively. "It's the Seventeenth of March."

Kuroba frowns, still rubbing the offended part of anatomy before the eyes widen as he -gets- it. Trust Kuroba to know something so silly from the other side of the world. "Oh." The petulance is then replaced by something quite devilish looking.

He quickly holds up a wrist, the sleeve falling back to reveal a green string around his wrist. He'd also taken the precaution of wearing boxers with green on them.

Fortunately for him, the devilishness is replaced by sulking. He nudges Kuroba with a shoulder, prodding him into movement again. They still have to get to class after all. Another mock-glare, more of the 'how am I supposed to feel safe around you NOW?' variety, Kuroba follows after him, watching him out of the corner of his eye.

Hakuba chuckles. Its so much fun to get his own comeuppance for a change.

Kuroba grumbles to himself. "... my ass."

"Yes." He agrees with the obvious. That was the part of Kuroba's anatomy he'd pinched. And if he wants to keep that particular part of his own anatomy safe, he should probably distract the churlish magician. Such as with the two very lovely people who just began on to their street about a half block up.

"Hey." He motions casually to them, more of an incline of a head than anything else. "I wonder if they're wearing green..."

The manic grin is back and Kuroba's off like a shot. Hakuba merely smiles to himself, following stately behind, his own safety temporarily assured. "And a Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too."

-Later that night, just as he was dozing off, he should have been unsurprised to find a late night visitor in his bed. One with a shit-eating grin.

Waving a green charm with a four-leaf clover on it.

Payback.

He pulled the pillow over his head. "Aw, shite."

-fin-

Was trying to think of why I look forward to St. Patrick's day every year so much and make a point of wearing as many shades of green as I can get away with.. Has nothing to do with getting drunk or the politics of Ireland or the saint himself. (I -LIKE- snakes!!)

Realised that it actually has to do with my growing up as a child. Every St. Patty's day, all of my siblings (I'm the second oldest of six) would choose their nightclothes carefully. Green nightclothes, underwear, bracelets, earrings, nail polish, -something-. The reason being that the next morning when you woke up and staggered downstairs for breakfast and weren't wearing green -you got pinched. Wearing something too close to blue instead of green -you got pinched. Not wearing enough green -you got pinched. Didn't wake up for breakfast -you got pinched.
Pinched someone who was wearing green -you got slugged back. >D

So come St. Patty's Day every year, can't help the little childish voice in the back of my head that pipes up while watching all these people walk around without wearing green and thinking -boy, are you gonna be sore...

Yeah, sounds blood thirsty, but boy was it a lot of fun... ^___________^

ahhhh!

Hee. I forgot until about half an hour into my day, and was immediately grateful that my green nailpolish hadn't completely chipped away.

I'm having it a lot easier here in Denmark on the 17th of March...

The only ones around me to know about St. Patty's Day is the ones I have told about it *grin*

But I am almost always in the safe zone...

If I can get away with it, I always wear green, especially T-shirts.

And I absolutely LOVED the fic ^__________________^
