[travel] Visiting Oz

Actually have a bit of a travel blog written down, but have decided to ignore it, cause it's long and mostly our rambles. So, the highlights!!! er, Pictures!!!

SCA - Rowany Festival
The weird, the wonderful and the odd quotes. The Australian Synchronised Bladder Team! Going for the Gold! continues to disturb me.

SCA - The Chuffer
Doubles as a Pizza Oven! Why does this marvelous piece of technological brilliance deserve it's own page?!
Because it heated hot water for showers. Tell me that doesn't rock. Those who have gone on week-long camping trips know what I mean.

SCA - Chinese Box Bellows/Smelting Iron
As it's been stated before, sitting around watching Iarnulfr make stuff was the main source of entertainment. Most of the time, he was making box bellows with the intention of smelting iron ore with it. Which he did.

Random Aussie Stuff
Mostly a zoo park. Really wasn't expecting the Sydney Opera House to be covered in tiles. The Chinese Gardens were also wonderful to visit, an area of calm in the middle of the hectic city.

The Fandom Stuff

Right. Mudane and SCA stuff aside, Fandom!!! Because we've discovered that the great majority of people who we meet in RL know -nothing- about anime and tend to get really confused by our LJ. And that the great majority of the people we meet online know -nothing- about SCA and tend to get really confused by our LJ.
... have also gotten comments in RL that for an LJ, we rarely post anything about ourselves. It's most cause I think we're boring. And not that we're paranoid, but we're paranoid.
And as it's also been pointed out, it's our bloody LJ, we'll post what we want. So there. Nyah.

Hmm... looks like the authour of Black Cat has started a new series... 'To Love'.

Also picked up volumes 51, 52 and 53 of Detective Conan at the Sydney Kinokuya. Which much to my surprise, sold mostly English books. And some Chinese manga. This was the first one I've ever been to that wasn't Japanese-only.
The movie book for Movie 10 isn't out yet. Bugger.

Does anyone know of any summaries that have come out for the 10th movie yet? Or for the 6th OVA? English or Japanese, I don't care. *eyes 'Ahou Calling' and 'Kid Ref Page' specutively*

Knightus posted the first the first three chapters in japanese of one of Gosho's earlier series, 'Third Base Fourth' on his site. Check it out! *hopes that someone will translate it* *sparkle* *sparkle*

There's this rumour about the WebSunday site saying that Gosho's taking a 2 month break after file 570...
WHERE on the site does it say that? Granted, I don't speak much Japanese, but I can't find that info on WebSunday, even with a on-line translator. Can someone paste the Japanese text where it says it?

... and the timing of that feels odd IMHO... Movie 10 (which has been #1 in the japanese box office for 2 weeks! XD ) is gonna be bringing in a lot of new and old fans... why would he do something that's potentially gonna bring down the series popularity? o_O? Wouldn't have made more sense to take a vacation -before- the hype about movie 10, when his return would have added to the excitement?

Anyway, I'm off to coffee with friends! *happy!* *happy!*
