[fic] DC: Pick a Number
Aug. 15th, 2005 01:40 pm"Dammit." Conan cursed to himself upon stumbling upon yet another crime scene. "Better call the police."
"Use that new number that Sato-san gave you." Haibara reminded.
"Right." It was a good thing that mobile phones had memories, made reporting these a lot easier. He pressed the speed dial, then waited for the other end to be picked up.
To his surprise, it wasn't a person on the other end of the phone. Instead, it was a recorded voice.
"Thank you for calling the Metropolitan Police Special Emergency Line." It sounded like Yumi's cheerful voice, only slightly robotic due to the nature of the recording. "If the nature of your emergency is a Murder, please press One and choose from the causes of death listed there.
"If the nature of your emergency is a Robbery, please press Two now.
"If the nature of your emergency is a Kidnapping, Hijacking or involves illegal Contraband or Drugs, please press Three now.
"If you are immediate physical danger due to investigating a case on your own, please press Four and stay on the line.
"If the Detective of the West is in town, please press Five.
"If the Detective of the East is in town, please press Six.
"If you are the Detective of the East, please press Seven and you'd better have a damn good explanation for the disappearing for so long, Kudo-kun.
"If you, any members of your party or anyone in the surrounding area is not currently in any immediate danger and you require Police Assistance or someone to pick up a suspect who has confessed, please press Eight.
"If you need to talk to an officer, please press Nine.
"If you need to hear your choices again, please press Zero. Thank you and have a nice day."
"...." Conan stared at the phone in his hand. Either Yumi and Sato were pulling a prank, or they were becoming just a bit too notorious around the police station.....
