Helping in Art Show this weekend at TusCon, a local Sci-fi con.

Saw dubbed FullMetal Alchemist.
Ed very egotistical. Al sounds younger than himself. Calls Ed Ed instead of Nissan/Brother. Japanese opening song is now ending song. Blargh.

We have now been friended by 100 people. Wow. 0_0

Neechan, have cat boys for you, but they're looking more furry than bish. Sorry.

I didn't think it was all that bad. Al's obviously NOT going to be calling Ed "niisan" in an English show, and, well, American children tend to call their siblings by their first name, so it's an understandable switch. (Although, I'll admit that I kept expecting him to say "brother".)
I didn't mind the mildly egotistical bit. It makes Ed even cuter. And Al sounds a little young, but not so much it detracted for me.

XD So far it's not bad. I'm holding off judgement until I've seen a little more.

Honestly, I haven't seen the subbed version of FullMetal Alchemist, but from what I've seen of it (the first episodes dubbed ^.^"), I can see that Funimation isn't doing too bad of a job on it--not like some of their other projects. Like how they've changed the names in Detective Conan (*sobs*). Also, I agree that Ed seemed very much an egotist but then when I watched it a second time, he came across as more of a somewhat cold cynic that just knows what he's talking about.

It really looks like a great series. My sisters and I all love it so far. Hopefully, I'll get to see the subbed version of it, too. One of my sister's friends practically pleaded with her not to watch the dub, but really, it doesn't seem so bad so far (though I recognized Inspector Megure's English VA right away >.<")...

Compared to Conan's dub, of course it rocks.

Hate to say it, but I think Al's VA ruined the whole thing. Even 10-year-old Al sounds 6. And I think the VA's like 12 or something.

Whatever.

I dunno, I liked Al's VA. The younger sounding voice just made it cuter IMHO.

BTW how long did it run for? The ads and TV guide thingy all said it was an hourlong premier, but it only ran for half an hour. Did this happen to everybody or just in Virginia?

Naw, I only saw it run for a half hour too.

But yeah, Al sounding younger threw me too. o_O;;

I think it meant there would be an hour's worth of premiering animes? Maybe not. But I only saw 30 minutes myself.

I'm either thinking of cars or noodle soup whenever I read that, depending on the way my brain goes "poof" after it *snicker*
