Speaking of nosebleeds, one of my students in my first class of the day had one in class. Three students looked for tissues for him, while the student sitting behind him fanned him with his pencil board and the teacher brought him a cold towel. He was back at work within a few moments.

Whereas, in New Zealand, I strongly maintain that no kid would pass up the opportunity to 'go and lie down' and miss the rest of the lesson.

Yeah, a bloody nose was usually enough to be sent to the nurses office to lie down in my schools too...

Wonder if nosebleeds are common in Japanese in general?
