"Oi!" A cry caught Conan's attention, causing him to pause in mid-step. He was currently in Odaiba, on a day trip with Agasa-hakase and the Shonen Tantei. The others were currently immersed in a tour of the Fuji Television Building, looking at all the studios there. He'd done the tours before and was quite content to sit this one out and explore the entertainment city instead. A boy in a soccer uniform waved from the grassy park he was walking next to. "Could you kick it back here?"
Glancing around, he spotted a soccer ball resting a few metres away from him. "Okay!" He shouted back with a fake-child's smile and a wave. The boy, a few years older than his current physical appearance, smiled in response.
He couldn't resist the urge to show off, just a little bit, as he kicked the ball into the air and bounced it on a knee a few times before kicking it to the older kid. The other boy caught it against his chest, then began to bounce it on a knee with meditative glee, indigo eyes looking at him appraisingly under shoulder-length inky hair. "You're pretty good." The other boy commented with a friendly but slightly hesitant smile. "Want to play a bit?"
Conan paused a moment, then shrugged, a real smile of his own growing. It wasn't like he had anything better to do. "Sounds good to me."
A grin and a quick snap of the leg brought the ball back his way. Conan bounced it off his head, off his ankles and knees a few times, then kicked it back, purposely aiming so the taller boy had to chase for it, giving Conan time to get down to the field for room to run around in.
He lost track of time after that, relaxing and having fun in the back and forth of a good game of one on one. The other boy was good; as good as he was when he was bigger.
Fortunately, he had some advantages of his own. Such as several more years practice than might have been expected. The game wasn't as mismatched as might have been anticipated.
It seemed like no time at all had passed when an exuberant cry caught the attention of the other boy. "Ken!! There you are!!! We're laaaaaate!!"
Conan looked up to see a boy about the same age as the dark haired boy with a backpack slung over one shoulder running towards him. A distinctive pair of goggles crowed a head full of wild untamed chocolate covered hair and warm eyes.
"Daisuke?" The other boy, now named Ken, questioned before rushing over to a duffle laying beside a bench and pulling out an unseal PDA to check the time. The bag moved strangely as he did so and Conan swore he heard a small high-pitched voice giggling from inside. "Oh, dear... We're LATE!"
Conan checked his own watch and was surprised to see that well over an hour had passed. Agasa and the others were probably looking for him as well. "Eep."
"Nice playing with you!" Ken waved, scooping up his gear and swinging it over a shoulder while Daisuke shifted from foot to foot next to him. "Take care!"
"You too!" Conan waved, watching the two boys run off, occasionally bumping into each other as they teased each other. He grinned to himself, wiping some sweat off his forehead and mentally promising himself a nice cool drink before he got back to the others. Obviously good friends.
Although he could swear that there was something in their bags squeaking and wiggling around...
-fin-
Fuji TV station is also where Wizardmon died. Voices have this little mental pic of the Shonen Tantei informing Conan that they thought they saw a ghost at the top. ^___^
More on Odaiba
We've been there twice now. Aqua City in Odaiba is where we saw Magician of the Silver Sky too. ^__^ Pretty neat place.
And yes, that giant Ferris Wheel they talk about on the site is the same one featured in the first Inuyasha Closing credits, and Yes, I've ridden it. Darn cool.
