"I'd like to see -him- chase down a criminal in a skirt and pumps." Yumi grumbled as the rest of the officers filed in for a meeting.
Yumi had been getting ribbed for the past week by some of the officers for not out-racing a purse snatcher. She'd still caught the culprit, mainly by tossing her clipboard at his feet and tripping him, but the teasing had yet to die down and it was getting on the usually sweet-tempered girls nerves.
Sato gave her a sympathetic look while Takagi raised a confused eyebrow but said nothing.
He'd learned that when the girls started griping, it was better to just keep his mouth shut and nod. While the women were in the minority at the force, he really didn't care to be on the bad side of both the female and the males in the station.
Although he still didn't completely understand why the guys were usually so mad at him. Which is why he usually hung out with the girls.
"Who knows?" Sato gave Yumi a grin. "Maybe you'll get lucky some day."
Yumi snorted disbelieving but appeared to be somewhat mollified. Shiratori called for everyone's attention towards the front of the room as the last of the stragglers filed in, most with coffee cups in hand.
The usual bits of boring news and information was exchanged, then came the exicting news.
"It's time for the one of the annual Police Charity Fundrasiers." Shiratori announced, bringing peoples attenion back to the present instead of zoning out. "And since there's been grumblings in the past about the amount of favouritism that goes into deciding these events, we shall pull this event out of a hat."
Sato snerked and made a soft comment just loud enough for Takagi and Yumi to hear about that apparently being the norm.
Pieces of paper were passed around to everyone, ideas written down and the ideas passed forward. Megure collected them at the front as Shiratori waited for everyone to finish writing and passing the idea forward.
Once they were collected, he gave a small bow towards Megure and ducked out of the way. "Megure-san, if you please."
"Ahem. Yes, of course." Megure coughed, shook his head rapidly back and forth, as if he were trying to jolt his brain against the sides of his skull. That done, he reached past his forehead into his hat and pulled a slip of paper out, all without removing his hat from his head.
"And the Fundraising event is... Drag Racing."
The mechanics who worked on the police cars immediately began cheering and slapping each other's backs. They'd been betting on whose car was the fastest and most powerful for months.
"...oh. OH." Megure's eyes widened, then he turned slightly pale as he continued reading. "The idea was put forward by Yumi-kun."
Dead silence filled the room.
The two women leaned towards Takagi, mirrored smug smiles on their faces as they each rested an arm on his shoulders. Takagi immediately blushed pink, startled eyes darting between the two women.
"Dibs on dressing Takagi." Sato purred, her expression downright evil. Yumi snickered gleefully in response.
