So I woke up this morning dreaming that Miss Piggy was getting sworn in as President of the United States of America, being the first to break both the gender and the species barrier.
... O_o ....
Then went to one of the closer libaries in the area and discovered that they have a graphic novels section. Read the first 3 books of Sandman by Neil Gaiman, and graphic novel versions of Mort and The Light Fantastic by Terry Prachett. Kinda disturbed at how different Ysabell, Death's Daughter appears in both of them. (Ysabet, is that how you decided on your name? ~_^ )
Dude... Terry Prachett and Neil Gaiman is a way tripped out combination to get mixed up in your head... For one thing, there's 2 Deaths floating around now and they BOTH have senses of humour. o_o
Am going to have to start looking up books on puppetry soon, starting to try to design Diskworld cotumes and dammit, all of our mental costume designs lately have been giant puppets operated on the inside.
damn cool tho.

Re: Names, NG & TP
Date: 2004-01-29 06:51 pm (UTC)Icka: bloody well the rest of the time. Internet, friends and head.
Both are kinda by choice, since I refuse to go by my full first name. I was raised as 'Jess', Full name is the little 6 year old running down the street when their parents call for them. That's not me.
... actually, have had to throw several hissy fits at my former work to get it thru people's heads. Full name is ONLY used by my Parents, When We're In Trouble.
If you ain't my parents, we won't respond. >D
Renn Faire I chose 'Honour Smitten' as my name (haven't used it in years tho). You'be be amazed at how few people get the joke.
Tho I'd prolly go by Issica now... the Galic version. ^^;;
I saw Good Omens and was kinda curious about reading it. Will see, wanna check out puppetry today. (*surfs libary catalog in other window* -the joys of the internet)
... have you noticed that everyone's writing MK/DC Fairey Tale AUs currently? I wrote one, Becky's working on one, one just got posted on FF.net...
And I'm rambling, and I'm in my underwear and need to get dressed, so I'll talk to you later...
MORT! -sounds like a battle cry almost... o_O
Re: Names, NG & TP
Date: 2004-01-29 07:02 pm (UTC)Funny thing is, I had a friend in Las Vegas whose SCA gaelic name gradually got perverted at work into 'Sienna', which stuck; first time I called for her on the phone I used her regular mundane name and nobody knew who I was asking for.
Fairy tales... and here I keep thinking up murder mysteries. And considering the most GRUESOME questions, like (for instance) whether or not human skin, when tanned into leather, continues to keep its fingerprint-patterns intact. I know, I know, very gross and all that, but it's an intrigueing thought with possibilities for a nice plot, isn't it? Gloves that would *literally* finger a deceased (hopefully, anyway) victim for a crime, because they'd leave unmistakeable fingerprints. However, I can't even remotely think of a place to find this sort of thing out-- and I'm not sure I want to. Because that would mean somebody had DONE that, and... brrrrrrrrrrrr.....
Okay, now I have the creeps. Lunchtime! Lunchtime cures all ills.
Re: Names, NG & TP
Date: 2004-01-29 07:08 pm (UTC)... actually, it was a Serial Convention. As in Serial Killers.
One of the guys wore leather ties. He was kinda famous for it.
In fact, it was a little known fact that he made the ties himself.
From his victims.
Enjoy your lunch! ^___^

Date: 2004-01-29 08:36 pm (UTC)Still not too sure about the fingerprints thing, though; I suppose, since cowhide does show lots of wrinkles and tiny ridges, it IS a possibility that fingerprints would keep. I suspect they'd be rather blurred, though. Hmmmmmm... Dunno if it's a DC kind of plot, though-- maybe this is one I ought to consider for those fledgling non-fanfic thingies I keep outlining. Had a funny thought about doing a Kindaichi storyline, though, with a victim that was dying slowly of poisoning. It wouldn't be murder until the victim was dead, and Kindaichi would be able to question somebody who would be a corpse by the time the story ended, which would be a very weird thing, especially if the victim was *aware* of this. Huh..... Wonder how a DC/Kindaichi crossover would work?
And lunch was good! Leftover beef stew, mmmmmm...
Re: Names, NG & TP
Date: 2004-01-30 12:36 am (UTC)From an actual trial:
Q. ...any suggestions as to what prevented this from being a murder trial instead of an attempted murder trial?
A. The victim lived.
I've been a closet Gaiman fan for years, just now finding the time to sit down and read a bunch of his stuff.
Still find the concept that there is an 8th Endless named 'Donuts' out there that the other 7 don't acknoledge. ^__^

I am having severe difficulties here picturing one of the Endless that looks like Homer Simpson. I really, really am.
