... It's the last day of voting for a fic contest and my sock puppet is currently in a 3-way tie for first.
Which is kinda cool, means that Jack is holding his own against the fandom's BNFs. Muwahahahahaaa.
not telling who or where, because that'd defeat the purpose #^^# Just passing on gleeful news.

Anyway, been doing some research for a name in the SCA and settled on 'Yasha'. Yes, yes, 'Icka Yasha'. Years ago I was told that it's what my name meant in Russian (which it isn't) but I like the sound of it and it's a name I wouldn't mind growing into. So, next step: must Document it.

... which I have been utter FAIL at. But! I've had a great deal of fun finding out meanings and spellings.

Yasha - Russian diminutive of YAKOV
Yakov is a Russian form of Jacob/James and means 'Holder of the Heel' or 'Supplanter'. May also mean 'may God protect'.
-there's also a 'Yasha' in Ansteorra, although there was some complications with his sur-names. But the name -should- be documentable.

Yasha - 雅沙 – Chinese.
'雅' = 'Elegance'/'Refinement'. '沙' = '100 Millionth' 'Sand'. ("100 Millionth Elegance"? ME? o_O 'Elegant Sand' I like. ^__^ )

Yasha - 夜叉 - Chinese
'夜' = Night. '叉' = 'Fork (As in 'fork in the road') or 'Crotch'. (Night FORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRK - obviously my preferred chinese spelling)

Yasha - यक्श - Sanskrit

-the last two can also be spelt as 'Yaksa', which is also cool. And yes, I know what it means, but let's keep that under wraps until after the name is passed, okay? ~_^

So, now I just have to find where the names were used in history pre-1600 and choose a sur-name. Really would prefer a 'The' name, 'the trickster', 'the mischievous', 'the innocent', 'the superfluous', etc, because I don't really wanna be tied to one location. Travelling Silk Road persona, yeah!
But, once again, need documentation. And to talk to a herald, but there doesn't seem to be any gatherings before Estrella. *sighs*

Hiiiiiii Icka, long time no chat ^^;; Still lurking around though.

Dunno where you got the Chinese translation but the most common translation to "沙" is sand. Not even sure where the "100 Millionth" part come from aside from maybe there being so many sand or something. ._.

It's a cool name though, and I like Yaksa too.

LOQI!!! ((GLOMPS!))

I got the '沙' = '100 Millionth' from Jeffery's Japanese = English Dictionary (http://linear.mv.com/cgi-bin/j-e/sjis/tty/dict). Just checked it.

... 'Elegant Sand', eh? Heh. ^___^

I can't find 'Yaksa' as a name, just as another romanji translation. (I know it's not the right word, but I'm more familiar with the Japanese terms)

Edit: I take that back. 'Yaksa' is 'Beautiful' in Hindi. ^___^

Yup, as far as I can tell, '叉' means 'fork/crotch'.

'Inuyasha' was my first manga love, so it's rather ironic. ^___^

**GLOMPS BACK**

Ah ok, then it might mean something different in Japanese then.

Good luck on the name claim!

Aware?

Nope, not aware. And no one has asked me if they could use it.

*sighs* There's something ironic about someone named 'Blood Sucker' stealing icons.

... and a Staff person no less. *facepalm*

Thanks.

Oooh, yes. ~_~ Because they're such NICE people. [/sarcasm]

I get the feeling that if I make a fuss about the icon theft that it's gonna erupt into another screaming/flame war and I honestly don't have the time time fuss with it at the moment.

If someone wants to mention that I've requested people not use that icon, that's cool, but I'm not gonna worry about it right now.

Thanks again for the heads up. ^___^
