Meme: First Line

ickaimpGot curious when I saw this and figured I'd give it a try:
Post the first line from your 25 most recent fanfics and try to find a pattern.
I did first 25 fic files on the computer because the DC/MK kinkmeme would have been over half, so it just got the opening line to the first fic. Includes some WiPs.
1: "I think Sentinel Prime has an inferiority complex."
2: The first sign that something was wrong was when Kid looked down at the severed fuel line of the borrowed Harley Davidson he was riding and realised that fuel did not drip glowing pink.
3: "We took a vote."
4: Heiji’s phone rang, interrupting the chess match between himself and Kudo.
5: Doctor Daniel Jackson rolled to a stop and he sat up, a large bottle of champagne clutched against his chest.
6: Mokuba barely made it to the waiting limousine before breaking down in laughter.
7: Jounouchi used to be a thug.
8: When Kaito woke up, he knew that something was wrong.
9: Daisuke had been given an all-expenses paid trip to an out of town hot springs for ten people by a client and her friends who had to suddenly fly to the Bahamas.
10: Hakuba was staring at him again, with those slit-pupil amber coloured eyes.
11: Things didn’t add up to Heiji’s way of thinking.
12: When their classmates had first heard the bet between Kuroba and himself, there had been much teasing and laughter.
13: Hayato been walking by the river after a fight when he encountered an old gypsy woman, her mouth the colour of blood from the wine she was drinking.
14: It wasn’t fair, Kagami thought with a plaintive mental whine as he watched from across the room as Tendou molested an ice cream bar with his mouth under the guise of eating it.
15: Jounouchi hated mornings.
16: As soon as they walked into the pub, the whispering started.
17: Jyuka loved Oniichan.
18: When Saguru arrived home, he found his boyfriend on the rooftop looking like a ruffled cat as his boyfriend's not-sister shouted curses at him from the garden.
19: "Is it just me," Tendou comments to Hiyori as she's cooking in the La Bistro kitchen "Or does Kagami keep staring at my belt buckle?"
20: Heiji dreamt of fire.
21: “I still can’t believe that you’re with ZECT.”
22: "You'll be staying at my house while I'm in France."
23: “We’re not supposed to go in there.”
24: Over the next two days, Shin’ichi discovered how hard it was to access public records when one was A: apparently six years old and B: unwilling to use his name because he was supposed to be -dead-.
25: “Did you get into a fight with Kagami again, Oniichan?”
... I used a lot of character names in the opening, Kabuto tends to open with dialogue, Jounouchi does/dislikes a lot of things, Heiji thinks a lot and everyone else jumps into the middle of the action.
Baaa.
[Edit: Why is it, that for the past two weeks Youtube.com has been giving me Japanese text, but when I go to look stuff up in Japanese for a fic, it comes up in ENGLISH? and shut UP, Kaito ~_~]
