Estrella War Highlights:

ickaimp☆ Megs and I became Watchlings of the Great Dark Horde! \o/ We got our cords Friday night. Could not be more gleeful. ^________^ *does happy dances*
This means we're on a probationary period where we Watch the Horde to make sure this is a group we want to join and the Horde Watches us, to see if we would make good members.
Have honestly never felt more welcomed or comfortable with a group of Scadians before. #^^# And from what I observed, all they did was be themselves! ^__^ Think I'll fit in well.
☆ Think this'll be known as one of the muddier Estrellas. It didn't flood, but the ground in a great many places were the consistency of pudding, including some of the parking lots and the majority of the interior roads, such as the ones leading to camp, leading to closures. Fortunately, by Sunday, the ground hardened to the consistency of cookie dough, and people couldmostly walk without sliding and falling their asses. yeah... don't know why the food analogies, but they work
☆ Huzzah for new boots! Make it possible to walk without falling! However, heavy boots + mud = heavy weights attached to feet. Owwwwww, my legs.
☆ It was also cold, as well as rainy. I ended up wearing my knitted fox-ear hat a great deal of the war because it's wool and warm and fairly waterpoof. After previous experiences, was expecting to get chewed out for wearing non-period comedic headgear at an SCA event again, but everyone liked it. ^__^ And there were a couple of playful attempts (and bribes!) to steal it. XD Think Ysabet's friend who makes them is going to get some new commissions soon. >^.^<
☆ Got a new bow! It's a 1940s vintage longbow with a 45lb draw. *purrrrs* And the drawstring is Horde colours! XD The rest of our group prefers horsebows, but I prefer the longbow. Mostly because you get more momentum with a longer stick if you swing it to hit someone. >D
☆ Worked 12 hours for Security. Next year, wanna work more hours. It's a lot of fun. And it's nice to be helpful.
☆ The privs were purple. no real reason to mention it other than it amused us. Pics later.

tdei, I did not get drunk at Estrella. >P Never drink enough to get drunk, especially not at an event with -that- many people.
*sighs* And so now I am tired, sore, want several naps and am entertained by the explorations of Xan, who has learned distance crawling over the weekend.
And evidently YGO GX is ending in April, and there's a new YGO show in the works, YGOD5's. Oh gods, it looks like SO much crack.

... the odd thing is when I first started asking about the Great Dark Horde while in NZ, I was met with awkward silences and informed I shouldn't have anything to do with them because of rumours. But no one could come up with details or information. >P
You may want to watch who you talk to in Southern Gaard about the Horde. *sighs*
Estrella War is about an hour and half drive from here, if you ever wanna come up and visit. ^________^ Estrella had over 7,000 people this year. (and 10% of the populace volunteered to help, and 10% of the volunteers came from our tiny camp!!! XD)
Pennsic is bigger, but it's on the other coast.

Agree-maybe with the "small children = EsperBeccabrats = noooooo", but note that I've never seen this Rebecca, and am therefore more inclined to look at the hair color and suspect they're Noadigibrats. So you've got lil'spawn holosecretaries, and lil'spawn cybersecurity with virus-bashing VR maces, and lil'spawn Virtual GMs, and lil'spawn training people in Duel Monsters. And then you add a dash of Mokuba in the programming...
Also, can't help but think motorcycleMC is the lovechild of Kaiba, Yugi, and Jounouchi. Norly! See, the spiky bits come from Yugi, the dark hair color is midway between Yugi's purplish and Kaiba's plainbrown, and the eyes are very Jou.
