Wankopalypse Early?

Wow. Fandom's just been exploding in insanity lately. Starting to wonder how the Wankopalypse (the release of Harry Potter book 7 on 7-7-07) is gonna top it.

... and it figures when it's while I'm away from the net.

Okay, first off there was the FanLib thing. (quick summary: People trying to profit off of fanfiction and fandom wanking at them.) [link], [link]

Now there's the 'Warriors For Innocence' thing. Who have "pledged to rid LJ of pedofiles and sex offenders" and are closing fandom communities in the process. (note: they are not affiliated with any national organization, law enforcement, or support group, BTW. basically vigilantes) [link], [link], [link].

Anyway, sure that most people's f-list is swarming with this, just letting people know that so far DC_yaoi and Takoyaoi_love are okay.

Fanlib is just silly. I may not like the Pit of Voles all that much but I doubt Fanlib is likely to be any better.

Heya... Was told in another LJ thingie that posting the 'warriors' link allows them to track you; you might want to disable it. o__O Everything I've seen about it so far just shows me that the term 'clueless asshats' fits them admirably.

*sighs into relief* That's good. I was afraid to check any recent fanart, fanfic updates because of Warriors of Innocence. I edited my profile, erasing my fun interests. Of course i plan on changing it back after the witch hunts ends. I know from history that sooner or later the witch hunt will end when someone uses a pin to deflate all the hot air out...What's Takoyaoi_love?

I just checked the LJ homepage, and apparantly all the fandom and fiction journals are being restored. There's supposed to be a post going up about it soon, but it looks like there's no worry about losing dc_yaoi or takoyaoi_love.
