DC Question

We were talking about this in chat, about how the Kaitou Kid annoys Shin'ichi, because he always gets away. Yet at the same time Shin'ichi'll pretty much drop everything and chase Kid, because he can chase Kid without having to limit himself as Conan.

So the question is...
There's a Murder on one side of town.
And a Kid heist on the other side of town.

Which does Shin'ichi choose?

The murder. =) I recall Shinichi expressed he regarded murderers with more gravity than thieves. Also, in Kaitou Kid's case, he's non-lethal and he eventually returns whatever he takes whereas the murder has someone dead and a murderer to be accounted for.

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] tdei. Also, the Kid's going to escape the police, and Shin'ichi will have another chance to catch him, because he'll probably pull another heist later. Shin'ichi might not get another chance to catch the murderer.

Kid would plan something special, as a sort of compensation for Shinichi missing out, because he's like that.

Next thought, did you know that when you type your livejournal address, there are so many odd variations that can be discovered by mistyping. For example: ivsiamp. Just needed to say that. ^.^;

The murder, hands down.

Of course, the Kid would probably do a fly-by of the site AFTER Shinichi had cracked the case, just to rub it in (or even show up and help), but he wouldn't distract Shinichi during the actual investigation.

that's a good question. I think that he would go for the dead body (they seem to follow him everywhere) and then when KID comes, tell him how much more important a dead body is to him than KID. course, KID'll say something funny and witty.....

Choice

To be honest... I think that Shin'ichi would pick the Murder, if only to bring the killer to justice. Think about it from a logical standpoint. The Kid, while infuriating, doesn't hurt anyone and always returns what he steals. The murderer, on the other hand, could very well be planning on hurting/killing someone else.

Shin'ichi wouldn't be able to live with himself for a while if he picked Kid over solving a case and someone else ended up dying because of it.

Murder.

For reasons already stated above. xD.

As Shin'ichi - providing he was informed about the murder, he'd go for the murder; reasons stated elequently by everyone else.

Of course, if he didn't know about the murder he'd go after Kid.

As Conan it would be 'harder' to find out about the murder though, unless he walks into it, which is easier than expected some days. >.>

Course, if he was doing really good he might be able to solve it and catch up with the tail end of the heist. XD

heh..what if he wants to have it both ways?

Since most of the cast know how to solve mysteries I'd say he'd give them a hint and run off after KID. Or better yet, he'd go after KID right away and feel guilty...so he'd phone someone, say Takagi, at the murder scene as Shin'ichi Kudou. Who's to say he /has/ to chose when he can do both at the same time?

1 Conan phones Takagi.
2 KID steals the phone.
KID: Kudou you two-timer, you...
Conan: Oi!

Shinichi isn't the obsessive Kid-chaser; Hakuba is.

Plus, everyone knows Kid usually doesn't do much harm and often returns his stolen goods. A murderer, on the other hand, is much more dangerous. Pragmatically, the murder should definitely take precedence, probably even for a Kid-obsesse like Hakuba (given the situation that he has to choose and is the only one available, etc.)

I'd say ... the one he can prevent? I think that if he could choose between *being the first to arrive at* a murder-scene or *preventing* a theft, he'd put some trust in the police and aim to stop Kid (since he probably wouldn't have any great deal of trust in the police there).

...I think it's already been said, pretty much. I'd say the murder. KID taunting can wait ^_^

**ponders** Hmm. I'd say he goes after the murderer, but thinks Very Annoyed Thoughts about the Kid all during the investigation. He'd tie them in together too if he didn't know damn well that the Kid doesn't kill.

And then he goes home afterwards and sulks badly over not being able to be in on the 1412-Hunt. **snerk**

Everyone already said so, but Shin'ichi'd choose the murder first. He can chase after Kid anytime. (Plus, it's normally not in his jurisdiction.)

I'd actually like to see this in Windfall. You know, with Kaito pulling off a heist Shinichi didn't know about while he was solving a murder. The Very Annoyed Thoughts would be most amusing, I think.

He clones himself and goes to both scenes then gets back together with his clone, discusses the situation and solves them both.
