*yawns, scratches head*
Sorry, should have updated this sooner, but didn't have two brain cells to rub to gether to do so.
Our local barony is Southron Gaard, in the Kingdom of Lochac, for those of you who understand such thing. Being in NZ, this means we can do such historical things as have a still to brew our own spirits and have cannons at our seige events. mwuahhahahaa. (evidently there was much whinging at the PTB until they gave in from sheer annoyance and let us have cannons. ^__^ )
This weekends event was a Seige event, we had two Trebuchet one finished just that morning, a Perrier (a smaller, man powered version of the Trebuchet) and some early hand guns, which really are tiny cannons on a staff. Very phallic looking and since all cannons are pressurised air and water driven, prown to launching their projectiles in a very messy, wet fashion.
I was kind of surprised at how laid back everyone was, until I found out that about half the members also belong to KAOS (Killing As An Organised Sport) and so the really wild/weird stuff is saved until then.
-I have been invited to joing KAOS and have done so. *cackles* *bounce bounce bounce*
Culture shock thing of the day was eating lunch with a family new to the SCA and out of their cooler comes... a porcelain in a tea-pot cosy. A container of milk, sugar, raw tea leaves and a thermos of water.
Evidently it was all packed -before- the food was considered. Tea had a higher priority than lunch.
-they take tea down here very seriously. No complaints from me! They also shared their tea with me, and I have to admit, it made the meal a lot nicer.
And Doc just woke up so I'm gonna head off now. We've both got itchy feet, so we're daytripping off somewhere, dunno where yet. ^_____^
