The orginal plot was for them to stay in England and go to school somewhere around there, but we've yet to find a series based on a British University.
Aaarghhh. I can't think of any contemporary anything matching that either (the closest is Sarah Caudwell. If you write them meeting either Professor Tamar or the denizens of that set of Chambers, I will adore you.)
/me thinks Hakuba might want to go to the University of London. Both because of its reputation, and of its fictional presence.
...if you really want to throw them a curveball (well, another one, after the Tsubasa people), they could meet the Tomorrow People.
Oh, and if they happen to walk or drive by whatever became of Madame Fidolia's Academy, I will squee like a mad thing.
