I did know about St. Nicholas being the paton saint of Thieves--when I got confirmed, I picked him as my patron saint. He's also the patron saint of brides, bakers, children, sailors... He was a busy busy man. :: laughs ::
I believe the patron saint of detectives would be St. Michael the Archangel, since he's the patron saint of police and firefighters.
