Tao Te Ching
Jun. 19th, 2003 06:33 amSorry to the late night crew and anyone looking for me last night, got a phone call informing me that my youngest sibling was graduating High School, and they were throwing a party for it. ^___^ So I went and had a good time. Stayed late, and nearly got hit by a car on the way home. Thank the Fates for good brakes on both our parts.
Now I feel old, my youngest brother's like 8 years younger than me... *sighs*
Also watched 'Mimi wo Sumaseba' (Whisper of the Heart) last night, a Studio Ghibli movie. And I think, the first appearance of the Baron that'll be in 'The Cat Returns'. ^_______^
Amasawa Seiji, the main male lead of the story greatly reminded me of Shin'ichi, with his hair style and his habit of knowing stuff about Shizuku. Not my usual type of story, but still very sweet. Well worth it just for the 'Country Road' music scene.
Have also taken to reading 'Tao Te Ching' outloud in the garden. It really needs to be read outloud to make sense of it, IMHO.
But there's just something amusing about reading Chinese Philosophy with a Scottish accent that's amusing. #^^#
My favourite is the first few lines of #71 (36 by this book)
"To realise that you do not understand is a virtue;
Not to realise that you do not understand is a defect.
The reason why
The sage has no defects
Is because he treats defects like defects.
Thus,
he has no defects."
