Shards of Eternity.
Jan. 27th, 2004 06:40 pmToday, we went to a couple of the local libraries, to find a certain Neil Gaiman Book.
It's called "The Sandman: Book of Dreams" and it's a collection of short stories by various authours and edited by Neil Gaiman.
There's part of one story in particularly that has stuck with us for years, aside from part of Tori Amos' introduction in the beginning.
It's from "An Extra Smidgen of Eternity." by Robert Rodi.
"First of all. Um - how should should I put this? The best part of stories - that's the part that comes between the middle and the end, right?"
He was wary of a trap, so thought it over carefully before answering. "Rrrrright."
"Because it's like eternity, isn't it? It's like being held aloft, or something. You should probably look at this as kind of like being in that story forever. Like a little smidgen of eternity for you. How 'bout that?"
Really like that.
Just little shards of eterinty, that's all that stories are...
