Bookman's Anime Fest 2008 Fanfiction Panel!

Ysabet: We could always watch the Black Pearl Case.
*Icka! looks at Megs*
*Megs looks at Ysabet*
*Ysabet looks at Icka!*

Icka! *clutches hands near face*: Kaitou Kid Sama~!!! <3 *sparkles*
Megs: Excuse me for a minute.
*Megs repeated smacks Icka! with a pillow*

-I get no love. *Snickers* Also discovered last night that it's rather futile to hide under your bed if your bed is a futon mattress on the ground. However, quite a bit of fun can be had while -under- said futon.

Anyway. THIS SATURDAY! FOR ONE SATURDAY ONLY!
We're hosting a panel on fanfiction at Bookman's Anime Festival 2008 in Phoenix at Noon.
By 'We', I mean [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny (Slayers), [livejournal.com profile] ysabet (DC/MK), [livejournal.com profile] lil_1337 (Gundam Wing), [livejournal.com profile] morgan_idril (Fandom History) and myself.
This'll be our first time hosting a panel, so wish us luck. It ought to be a lot of fun no matter what, so if you're in the area, feel free to stop by and heckle ask us questions!

Oofuri fans might get a kick out of this story.

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] sirah_fires!!! ((SNUGGLES))

[Edit: *facepalm* Speaking of fanfiction, we've posted quite a bit of stuff over on new ficblog. Between getting into Katekyo Hitman Reborn! and moving the blog, it seems to have gotten us unstuck on ficcage. XD ]

Hey there again...seeing as the LJ entry I left my silly comment on is about four days old now, I figure you might not notice the note I left there (especially since you just made a new entry after I left my note)

Long story short, I come bearing fan art of the Kid, inspired by your fics:

http://auragirl.livejournal.com/74509.html

Also, I would totally go to your panel but I have class D: Good luck though! You're a great writer so I'm sure you'll do fine.

You have a class on Saturday? Boo, that sucks! And great art of the Kid!!

T_T Graduate school.

Also, while I'm in LA so it's not impossible to drive out there, with the price of gas as it is, and an animated film I need to finish....T_T

And thank you! Glad you like the art! ^^ I'll have to draw more of him in the future, he's so adorable...

I understand completely. I want to drive out there one day as well to visit a friend who works at Dreamworks and to hit up the book stores. When you have the time (and if gas eases), come on out!! We'd love to have you. *hugs*

*Cackles at Kid's expression* He looks so friendly for some reason. I love the Kid face on the cards too. XD
*SQUEEES* ((GLOMPS!)) Thank you!!!
And I'm really glad you enjoyed both SoG and TGZ. Although, in the future? Get some sleep, okay? ^_____^

You're in LA? Schweet! I grew up in Torrance!

I saw your previous post, I apologies for not responding to it, the rugrat woke up right after I posted here and kept me running all day.

Re: (Fan art gift)

[identity profile] auragirl.livejournal.com 2008-04-19 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome! I'm just glad that you liked it. I took a few liberties with the design (unless I'm wanting to specifically emulate an artist's rendering style, I tend to make things more realistic these days, by default), so I'm glad it came out well despite that :)

I grew up in New Jersey, moved to CA, and then moved to SoCal for college. Am currently scraping my way through UCLA *crosses fingers*

And no worries about missing the previous post - when I have a gift I shall be merciless in delivering it~! ;)

On the note of gifts, I did yet ANOTHER picture of Kid last night. However, it is of an...ahem, more adult nature so I can't post about it in my LJ (my mother reads that! Eep.) but if you'd like to see it:

http://yaoi.y-gallery.net/view/411158/

Also, shame on you: you've turned me into a shameless Hakuba/Kid shipper (and fangirl).

Re: (Fan art gift)

[identity profile] ickaimp.livejournal.com 2008-04-21 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I love seeing Kid drawn in people's own styles, it adds a unique twist to the character. XD

Enjoy SoCal while you're there. It's a nice place to visit, IMHO, but I wouldn't want to live there again. #^^#

*Laughs* Think you're a better person for being merciless with gifts than I am. ^^;; I'm sure there's one or two people who still haven't realised that I've drawn stuff for them.

*whimpers* I can't see the pic, it just gives me a white page on that link. ;_;

-er, sorry aobut the shipping? *cackles and gloats* XD

Ah, I rather like it in SoCal, though it can get pretty stressful (and expensive! @_@), but I want to work in the film industry so I kinda need to be here...

And, when I try the link, it works...hn. Do you have an account at yaoi gallery? You can only see adult content there if you're registered. Also if your browser is out of date it may not load at all...
But, as this particular drawing isn't *terribly* terribly indecent (just indecent enough that I wouldn't post it in my own journal), I think it'll be safe enough in my sekrit photobucket account:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b365/artseme/kid-badend.jpg

Hopefully it doesn't get deleted ^^; And hope you enjoy!

Oh, and on the note of styles, I'm also working on drawing Hakuba. Still not 100% happy with him, but I've given him a kinda manly chin XD;

[identity profile] sekitx2.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Wish I could be at the panel... so if someone records it, might we (unfortunate souls who can't be there) see a clip? ^^ (fun filled description of how it went if no recording of at least hope for)

[identity profile] ickaimp.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Dunno if it'll be video'd, but will explain in as much detail as is possible! ^___^ ((Huggles!))

[identity profile] sekitx2.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Wai! Look forward too ^^; Kid with tentacles should go over well :>

Read 647... Heiji should be able to extract several "favours" from Shinichi for covering his ass ... assuming Shinichi/Conan returns to his former self and not the current wallflower... thought is was memory loss, not a stroke.

[identity profile] ytak.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Knock 'em dead! Have a fictional murder! Ooo! If I were there, I could randomly show up at Kid!

[identity profile] ickaimp.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ooo... that's a really good idea. XD People walk in and there's a dead body on the table or something. XD

[identity profile] ytak.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you can work it in as a legitimate part of the panel. ^_^

Ne, Icka, dearest darling...

What's the weather traditionally like in Arizona? (there is a reason for this, mum wants to know)

Good luck with the pannel!

[identity profile] ickaimp.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Going to be heading this way for Yaoi Jamboree (http://www.yaoijamboree.com/)?

Well, temps vary. It's generally about 5-10f degrees cooler here than Phoenix, and it's cooler in Flagstaff because it's in the mountains. Right now we're in the middle of an odd cold snap, it should be about 90f, but it's in the high 70s, low 80s.

Give it another month or two and it'll be above 100f, last year it got around 110f for a few days in July. Then about late August, the monsoons roll in, it pours and cools back down to the 90s.

Winter time is just above freezing at night, 50-60s during the day. Deserts aren't good at holding the heat. #^^#

With the exception of the Monsoon season and Winter Rains, it's really REALLY dry. Bring moisturiser if you're heading this way.

Ah! here. (http://www.wunderground.com/NORMS/DisplayNORMS.asp?AirportCode=KTUS&SafeCityName=Tucson&StateCode=AZ&Units=none&IATA=TUS) Graphs are your friend. ^__^

-And thanks!

Ah...no.

See, in a couple years, after the house is finished and Grandmere passes on (or leaves us to go to my uncles), mum and I are moving out to Arizona. It was our top pick out of three locations (New Mexico, Arizona and Hawaii). We're tired of the nine monthes of rain and cold, tired of breathing and emotional problems due to the moist weather and darkness.

So I was checking to make sure it was the right range, since I've already checked most of the taxes and real estate prices.

We just can't decide WHERE to move, but we've got a while for that, we need to sell the house first so we know what our range is (we just know for sure we DON'T want inside a major city, but suburbs are okay, as we want to be close to one...we're tired of small towns after sixteen years).

I can't wait! I get OUT of this town!
