... So I took a picture of it.

Himmel Park, right? Do you know why it is called that? Just in case you don't...in the late 60's and early 70's we used to congregate on the little knoll to score and party. Straight folks (sober, not necessarily heterosexual) used to comment about the "Hippies on the Hill" and after a while everyone just called it...yeah, "Hippie Hill." Wow, do I feel old...that was almost 40 years ago.

I saw a guy on a bike heading down Tucson Blvd on my way home from the event yesterday, and there was a drum strapped to his handlebars. My first thought was, "Ooh, I wonder if he's going to the drum circle at Hippie Hill?"

I was wondering about that, because I took a look at the sign and it's made just like a traffic sign is. Which, if they made a permanent sign for it, meant to me that there was a reason if significant importance for doing so. Thank you!

Am amused to note that my google-fu in attempting to discover the history merely brought up that Tucson Area Wiccan-Pagan Network (http://www.tawn.org) holds open rituals there at least four times a year. The next time is on the 26th. ^__^

I can tell you that it's where the 1982 Principality of Atenveldt Coronet Tourney was held. There's video and it's pretty awesome. Sir Justin had hair and Duke Sir Mathghamain looked like he was about 12.
