Thanks to Wren for the beta!

"Haibara-san, you're here early!" Mitsuhiko grinned and waved at the blond haired girl. Genta and Ayumi turned and greeted their friend as Ai walked towards them, a little faster than her pace. "Where's Conan-kun?"
"He's coming." Haibara said curtly, although she gave Ayumi a small smile as the head-band wearing girl wrapped her arms around one of Ai's arms in greeting. "But I thought I should warn you before he arrives."
"Warn us?" One of Genta's eyebrows rose in a confused expression as he scratched a cheek. "Of what?"
"Japan was in the World Cup late last night." Haibara deadpanned.
"Oh! I saw that in the news this morning!" Mitsuhiko exclaimed. "We got the first point, but still lost to Australia, three to one."
Haibara nodded. "Exactly."
"Conan-kun's a big football fan, isn't he?" Ayumi murmured, eyes wide.
"A huge one." Mitsuhiko agreed.
"The Biggest." Genta seconded.
"... He's not going to take this well." Mitsuhiko looked around nervously.
Ran, Sonoko and Conan appeared, the girls chatting away happily while Conan....
...Conan looked like a zombie. A highly annoyed one. He was slouched, his backpack only half on as he staggered down the sidewalk, dark bags under his eyes.
"g-Good Morning!" Mitsuhiko smiled hesitantly, ready to dart behind Genta at the slightest sign of trouble.
Conan growled in return, not stopping his plodding pace. "... Stupid Socceroos."
The Shonen Tantei watched him pass.
"He's really sulking, isn't he?" Genta mused.
"Conan-kun was listening to the game under the blankets last night." Ran sighed, nodding in agreement. "The game didn't stop until after midnight."
"Yeah, but we have to sit next to him in class!" Mitsuhiko panicked. "And next week, Japan plays against Croatia and then Brazil!!"
"... Doesn't Brazil usually win the World Cup?" Genta questioned. Mitsuhiko nodded and Genta's face fell. Two weeks of Conan sulking...
"We need to distract Conan-kun." Ayumi announced. "Quick! Someone find a dead body! That ALWAYS cheers Conan-kun up!"
-fin-
Plunnie showed up while watching the news. ^^;; Because Conan would prolly sulk and declare that he could do better.
There was some debate on if it's called 'Soccer' or 'Football' in Japan. Anyone know?
[Edit:
18 June, Japan vs Croatia: Zero to Zero.
22 June, Japan vs Brazil: One to Four.
Conan's gonna -sulk-. Japan didn't make the final 16.]

and i don't actuall know which it is in japan [soccer or football] but i'm sure it's influenced/determined by whoever introduced the sport to them. if european, then probably football. if american, then soccer. at least that'd be my guess.

*head desk* Why is it called two different things?! *wails*
Yeah, not really sure who to cheer for in the World Cup... Guess most Kiwis cheer for England? Dunno.
M'not a really big football/soccer fan anyway, so will watch it with an amused air. #^__^#
((Snuggles Mel))
I need to send you a package sometime.

And, dude, I got my MSN to at least pretend to work again, but I can't tell if it's just taunting me 'cause nobody's on! *pokes computer* I guess all the tweaking I did to get my internet to work again last time it decided it liked Yuri's connection and hated mine fixed something extra... maybe.
*pokes head in*
I love
youyour stuff, and this was entirely amusing!Soccer is a game too awesome for one word! XD I prefer the Spanish version: Futbol (with the little accent marks I don't know how type)
Re: *pokes head in*
