[fic] Hunter x Hunter: Wizard of Jin

This is still not completely edited, just wanted it out of my head. ^^;

+++

Once upon a time, there lived a happy little boy named Kurapica, who's eyes turned red when he was angry. Not dry itchy irritable red eyes, but glowy scary ruby coloured eyes. His entire clan did that, so he didn't think it was terribly original.

Then his entire family and clan were mercilessly slaughtered and he wasn't a happy little boy anymore. Then he was an angsty revenge driven little boy who's eyes were red a whole lot more often.

So he dressed in his family's traditional clothing, and prepared to leave the both the house and the village he had grown up in. Unfortunately for him, that's when the sky swirled above him, forming a tornado that picked up both him and his house away.

After several dizzying moments where he valiantly attempted to keep the contents of his stomach on the inside instead becoming on the outside, the tornado dropped him and the house down in a strange foreign land full of lollipops and rainbows.

Needless to say, our hero Kurapica was more than a little disturbed.

Especially since when he stepped out of the house, he discovered much to his disconcernment that he had squished a very large spider named Kuroro.

The Geneiryodan, who were not small cheerful people who sang choreographed dance numbers, weren't pleased about the squishing of their leader either. They also called him a girly-boy and his traditional tabard a skirt, for which he was highly annoyed.

Having heard the fairly loud disagreement brewing, The Good Fairy and Music Hunter Senritsu made a brief appearance to advise Kurapica to head towards the capital city to ask the wise Wizard of Jin if he knew a way home.

Deciding that living another day whole instead of bloody and beaten to a pulp was a good idea, Kurapica quickly took her advice and fled, running along side a convenient yellow-bricked road. Which was really very horribly garish and tacky looking and just screaming for travellers on it to be picked off by any sort of low life or wild animal.

It was just as that thought was passing when a large ferocious mangy lion jumped in front of him, growling. He glared back, ruby eyes glowing.

"Er, sorry." The Lion backed down. "You're pretty scary for a girl."

"I'm not a girl!" Kurapica snarled back.

"Then why are you wearing a skirt?"

"It's not a skirt! It's a -tabard-."

"Oh." The lion scratched his head. "Got anything to eat?"

"... You're a strange lion, aren't you?"

"I'm Leorio." The lion held out a paw, er, hand. "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too." Kurapica said politely. "But if you'll excuse me, I'm in a bit of a hurry."

"No problem." Leorio agreed easily as Kurapica began running again. "So where are we going?"

"...." The lion didn't seem to be a bad guy, so he decided not to argue it overly much. "To see the Wizard of Jin to see if he knows a way home."

"Cool."

So Kurapica and Leorio traveled through the forest, keeping the yellow bricked tile in sight.

After a while, they were stopped by a hesitant not-so-quiet voice. "Where are you going?"

"Forget that." A second voice corrected. "Why is he wearing a skirt?"

"It's a -Tabard-." Kurapica growled.

"Ooh. Sorry." A silver haired kid mock apologised insincerely.

"It's very pretty." The first speaker, a dark haired boy with straw shoved down his clothing commented diplomatically.

"....Thanks."

"Oh, yeah!" The straw covered boy beamed at them. "I'm Gon, the Scarecrow. This is my best friend Killua."

"I'm a Tinman." Killua deadpanned. Which certainly explained the amount of plate mail he was wearing as well as the silver funnel on his head.

"Duh." Gon added helpfully. The two started wrestling, the straw not causing much damage to the tin and the tin not causing much damage to the straw.

"Riiiight." Kurapica backed away slowly. "We'll just be leaving now."

"We're off to see the Wizard of Jin." Leorio added cheerfully.

"Really?" Gon de-tangled from his friend with shocking speed. "We'll go with you too. We're looking for him too! He's my father!"

Kurapica smacked his forehead with a hand. "Sure. Why not."

"Yay!!" The scarecrow bounced up and down in joy as the Tinman watched with a small amused smile. Leorio grinned as well.

"Let's go." Kurapica sighed, taking off running again. He was half expecting to leave the smaller new members of their group behind, but they kept up, cheerfully arguing between themselves over the merits of chocolate ice cream over strawberry.

Eventually the yellow bricked road came to an end, dead ending in a city made of silver. After a pause, looking around for any possible attackers, they approached the large heavy doors that were obviously the only entrance to the city.

After a brief bout of Jun-Ken-Po, Leorio, who lost the game, sneaked forward and knocked on the door. After a moment, a teenage boy with wild looking hair opened a window in the door and glanced down. "Hi. Welcome to Silver City. I'm Kaito."

"NO YOU'RE NOT!" Gon and Killua roared.

"I'm MAGIC Kaito." The teenager grinned back, making a gesture with his hands. Cards, confetti and streamers dancing between clouds of smoke appeared.

The group glared back in obvious disbelief.

"Right." The teen sighed. "Just a moment."

The door shut. After another few moments, the door opened again, this time a man with long blond hair and wearing a purple newsboy cap on his head peering out. "You hollered?"

"-That's- Kaito." Gon said authoritatively.

"We're here to see the Wizard of Jin." Leorio said.

"Right." Kaito fiddled with his hat. "Well, I'm pretty sure you don't want to come in."

Kurapica growled, eyes flashing ruby.

"Then again." Kaito shrugged. "Maybe you do. Enter at your own peril."

The massive doors opened a fraction, just long enough to let them enter the city made of silver. They quickly dashed through before the Kaito or the doors could change their mind and slam shut on them.

"Nice skirt." Kaito's voice followed after them.

"It's a TABARD." Kurapica snarled, stalking towards the tallest building in the city, reasoning that it was most likely the head of the capital. The rest followed him, figuring that he probably knew where he was going.

Eventually they ended up inside the really big building with a really big room with a really big curtain. On the curtain was a really big sign that read:

'Out Travelling. Be Back Later. -Jin'

"So that's why Kaito didn't want us to come in." Leorio mused.

"Wha... What? This can't be right." Kurapica stormed forward and pulled the curtain aside. He found a red-head clown sprawling in a small throne. "Eh?!"

"Well inspect my butt for flying monkeys. ♣" The clown purred. "A bunch of Munchkins. ♥"

"....." There didn't seem to be a good answer for that.

"Who are you?" Gon demanded. "You're not Jin."

"Jin's out travelling. ♠" The clown smiled. "You may call me... Hisoka. The Wicked Wizard of the West. Nice tabard, by the way. ♦"

"IT'S A SKIRT!!!" Kurapica roared.

Silence filled the large room.

Kurapica wandered over to the nearest wall and began repeatedly hitting his head against it.

"Er.... right. Okay. ♣" Hisoka waved it off. "Anything I can help you shark bait with? ♥"

"Um... no." Killua shook his head. "We'll pass." He quickly grabbed Gon's arm and began to back away before the dark haired boy could ask any of his usual blunt questions.

"Thanks anyway." Leorio waved, backing away as well. "Kurapica?"

The ruby-eyed one continued to beat his head against the wall.

Leorio wrapped an arm around the blond and pulled him along. "We'll just be going now. See ya."

They backed out of the throne room until they were in the hallway and then they began to run. They ran out of the building, out of the city and did not stop running until the the shining city was well in the horizon.

"Well, that was fun." Killua commented, still holding on to scarecrow. "So what are we going to do now?"

Leorio looked at the blond who was still tucked under his arm. "Kurapica?"

Kurapica whimpered. "S'not a skirt."

"I'm going to travel with him." Leorio said with an embarrassed grin.

"I still want to find my father." Gon reminded his friend. Killua nodded. The Scarecrow was a little shy when it came to common sense, which the Tinman had plenty of. In return, Gon made up for his friend's lack of empathy that Killua was shy of, making friends in a way that was foreign to the Tinman.

"All right." Killua waved. "Catch you later, Leorio, Kurapica."

"Later."

The Tinman and the Scarecrow wandered off, heading towards the sunset.

"Kurapica?" Leorio prodded.

The blond shook himself out of his stupor. "Yeah. yeah. I'm fine."

"Where do you want to go from here?" The lion asked.

Kurapica shrugged. "Any where's fine." He'd get stronger and find the people who killed his clan as he wandered.

"Fair enough." Leorio agreed. The two of them headed off, the sun at their backs.

"Hey, Kurapica?"

"Why do you wear a skirt anyway?"

Once upon a time there was a red headed tentacle imp who wrote strangely hystecial twisted tails of kiatos and Kurapicas. Oh and ruby eyes and not so lions. Hmmmmm.

Do feel for Kurapica tho, skirt, tabard, skirt..... And truthfully they should have stuck with the Kid, I doubt you'd get red headed clowns that way.

Just dark-haired clowns and red-headed witches...

.....

Kurapica's a guy?

*feels increadbly embarassed*

Loved the little Kameo from our favorite PhantomThief. And Leorio does make a good cowardly lion.

Our Kaito's been annoying me to do something like that ever since we first met the HxH Kaito.
So hopefully that's out of our system, so if we do more HxH, there won't be anymore Kaito jokes. ^^;;

This was funny, although it kind of dribbled off at the end.

(It's "jan-ken-pon," btw.)

And I was more amused than I should have been by Kuroba's cameo... ^_^
