[snippet] [543] Tashigi's makeover
Nanowrimo count: 543
This is a OP Tashigi story we've been fiddling with the opening for a while now. Have most of it planned out, just need to do some of the reading.
This part is from the ending area, after stuff happens, Zoro's brought Tashigi back to the Going Merry for a little bit of down time before sending her back to the Marines.
"You should really take better care of yourself." Nami mildly scolded. "Just because you hang out with a bunch of soldiers is no reason why you can't look nice."
Tashigi just looked confused.
"Or dress like a lady." Robin added with her usual elegant flare.
Zoro grimaced and ran a hand down his face, thinking it was becoming a big mistake to bring her back here. The females were going to corrupt the other swordsperson.
"But it's a hindrance during fighting." Tashigi protested. "And if I look like a lady, no one's going to take me seriously."
One of Robin's eyebrows rose. "Hawaiian Print?" She somehow managed to imply a slight insult without out rightly saying so.
One of Tashigi's arms wrapped around her shirt protectively, the other gripping Shigure tightly. "I -like- bright colours."
"N-nothing wrong with that." Usopp assured her a bit nervously. The last thing he wanted was the girls fighting. "Even Zoro's got a Hawaiian shirt."
Eyes turned towards the light-green haired swordsman. He smirked. "Stole it off a Fishman."
"Still smells like it too." Sanji quietly muttered. Zoro shot him a quick glare.
"Actually." Nami smiled, bringing the topic back on the track she wished. "There's no reason why you can't dress like a woman and still fight. Both Robin and I fight in our clothes all the time."
"Yes, but you-"
"And..." Robin straightened, taking a deep breath that caused her cleavage to strain against her clothing in interesting ways. Nami smirked, crossing her legs a little higher, her skirt slipping down a few inches.
Luffy was oblivious to the show of fine female flesh, still entrenched in trying to draw what ever it was he was drawing. Chopper was like wise distracted, attempting to figure out what Luffy was drawing. Usopp suddenly found the wall very interesting as Zoro impassively raised an eyebrow. And Sanji...
Sanji promptly passed out on the floor, a stream of pink hearts flying from his now heart-shaped eye as he rambled incoherently about the pretty women.
"... a little distraction never hurts in your favour." Robin finished with a definite smirk.
"But, my opponents-"
"If they fall for that-" Zoro motioned to the girls with a disgruntled jerk of his thumb "Then they're not worthy opponents. Just bash them over the head and keep going."
Tashigi looked at him like the idea was completely foreign to her. She was a Marine. Marines wore uniforms. They didn't stand out from the crowd-
Then she remembered the stranger uniforms some of the higher ranking officers and closed her mouth with a snap.
"There's no reason why you can't be both a woman -and- a swordsperson." Nami said gently. "In fact..." She traded a mischievous look with Robin before the girls rose and gently but firmly grabbed Tashigi by the elbows and escorted her from the table.
"Wha-what? Where are we going?!" Tashigi demanded.
"Relax!" Nami's grin grew bigger. "It's just a little girl time. In fact, I think a make-over is due, wouldn't you say, Robin-chan?"
"Oh, most definitely." Robin smiled. "This is going to be -fun-."
"Fun?!"
The door slammed shut behind them with a final sounding 'bang'.
"Great." Zoro muttered, running a hand through his short hair. "They're gonna ruin her."
