They're posting fanart:
A: Without asking the artists.
B: Without crediting the artists.
C: Hotlinking to images, stealing bandwidth from the artist's sites.

tdei, kaitou_ann, dogmatix_san, they've got some of your artwork posted as well as some of mine. I've asked that it be taken down (go all the way to the end, page 30)
They posted some of my Hakuba art in an earlier thread. >_< They took it down when I asked, then started up this thread for Kaito fanart. *thuds head on desk*
The general mentality is 'oooh! lookit the pretty I found!!'. Blargh.
I prolly wouldn't be as pissed off about it if it wasn't the frikkin' Mods who were posting some of the art.

It's also been taken care of on my end, we ended up re-naming folders and re-loading about a third of Mischif.net the other night. ~_~

I probably would have been happy, if people had mentioned who had drawn the pictures. Or asked if they could post the images. Without crediting the artist, who is to know who drew the picture?

Which means later, when people want to make sites and are looking for art, they'll usually take the art without anyone's name on it (which is why mine says 'mischif.net' on it). Or in some cases, edit the signature out.
Unfortunately, this does happen. *sighs*
There's quite a bit of art by a japanese artist named 'Persia' on the english net with no credit to her at all, because someone posted Persia's art without crediting her.

It was also draining bandwidth from my site, which I have to pay for. >_< So people posting my images to the message board costs me money.

It is also a bit of a legal issue. Fanart and fanfiction is a derivative creation, which means that if the Authour or creator of the characters asks me to stop, I have to. But unless the creator of the characters says something, the creations (fanart, fanfic) I put time and effort into are legally mine.
If a host (such as proboards) hears that you are posting someone else's creation without permission, they can and will shut down the site.

To my understanding, in Japan, you're not even allowed to post copyrighted work, such as art you'd scan from a manga to decorate your site, the site would be shut down. Which is why you have so much fanart on Japanese sites. #^^#
And also the reason that with the exception of images we've been given, such as banner links and gift art (we asked if we could host everything in the 'Treasure' section), we've created all the images. Including the backgrounds.

So I was angry because I was not asked, because people do not know who drew the art (not just mine, but all the fanart that wasn't credited), because it hurts my website and because it could potentially kill the message board, who has a lot of really nice people on it that we like.

And I am sorry for the trouble I caused the moderators. But as people have commented, most of the people doing it did not know until something was said. ^^;;

People drew their art in blood and sweat, even when just other Conan forum have pics, man they buy the DVD and cut the pics themselves. like my conan forum too. I also dont like it when ppl just steal not asking.

because this is...not just disrespect or stealing. but showing to other ppl that you are uneducated and even disgrace this forum when you post stolen arts (unauthorised = stolen)

That time when I was reading Wolfina's REsident Evil I read that Online Work Protection page many times.

I dont believe that people are...even when their age grow. but they are still that uncivilized and steal ppl's arts.

people drew art in their time, work, energy, not steal other ppl's.

we should not use people art without permission.

Even if you wish to tell ppl she got good arts, you should link her page. not to steal her pics/

stealing is illegal! if she report your country police you will get arrested.

and if you drew - but people only keep steal. how you think?

I have conan forum myself too, but I also wish people respect me by asking my permission before using my forum conan pics. in suddenlaunch.
